I realize I should have posted this here, so sorry for the repost. My friend is looking to trade me an American Eagle NVEC-501 Night Vision Scope 3rd Gen, with 2 lenses. One is a 75 ml, and the other is a wide angle lens. It's barely used and in great condition. I do not know anything about them. My goal is to sell it. He is trading me the scope for my mountain bike, and in turn, I want to sell it to get a new mountain bike. He said they got 2 of these for $7800 and that it's military grade. So if anyone can offer advice on what it's worth and the best way to sell it, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks. I also have pics of it too, so let me know if that will help as well.

Jane"s Defense lists the info on your system as this:

Night Vision Equipment Company American Eagle Pocketscope NVEC Models 502/503/602/603 (United States), Land systems - Observation and surveillance - Image intensifier monoculars

Type
Image intensifier monocular.

Description
The American Eagle pocketscope is a combination of night viewer and still or video camera night lens which incorporates automatic brightness control. Each instrument is equipped with a high quality eyepiece, carrying case, a ×1 25 mm objective lens (×2, ×3 optional) and two alkaline batteries.Four versions of the pocketscope are available and have either commercial specification second-generation, second-generation plus or third-generation image intensifier tubes.

Last year, someone listed an NVEC-602 System for sale on Guns America for $2500. No one bid. Here is the link: http://www.gunsamerica.com/964224577/Non-Guns/Night-Vision/American_Eagle_NVEC_602.htm

Best I can tell you is that you are being offered an antiquated system that is not worth a lot of money (IMHO). Doesn't mean that your buddy didn't pay a lot, just stating it's value today. You might get a grand for it or, you might not ever be able to sell it because of it's age and it's incompatibility with modern-day mounting systems.

Good luck!

Re: Advice on NVEC-501

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate all your help. I did see that it has a picatinny mount, if that makes any sense. I don't how that compares to modern day mounts, but we'll see. I did play with it last night outside and have to say its pretty cool. I've only seen stuff like that in the movies. I'll try ebay and maybe even here. Either way I'll try to figure out how to post some pics of it here.
