Hello, Im thinking of getting a .308 and have been looking at the SPS Tactical, now i will be changing the stock to a ACIS and with the DM system it should make a nice rifle.

Now would you guys use the SPS Tactical, or would you go for a different Remmy? if you would why? 20" barrel or more?

Its to be used for some target work and some Vermin & Deer control.

Any help/comments will be very helpful.

Cheers Sam - From UK

Re: ADVICE please chaps, 308 SPS Tactical

I have an SPS-T with 20" barrel and I love it. Shorties for me any day!

I'd definetly recommend the SPS-T for your application, or for a bit more money you could step up to the 20" LTR. You'd get a better finish and a fluted barrel. You'd also be able to sell the included HS Precision stock for more money than what you're going to get for the Hogue stock that comes on the SPS-T.

You really can't go wrong either way.

Re: ADVICE please chaps, 308 SPS Tactical

Hey bro I would also recommend the sps tactical it's a sweet gun and very accurate mine shot sub moa groups from the day I got it the hogue stock is a little to flexable for my taste but I replaced it with a B&C medalist tactical I don't think u could go wrong for the price and the 20 inch bbl is fine I can hit targets at a 1,000 no prob but the gun can be easly modified to any shooters taste there is about any and everything imaginable availible for a SA remy but yes excellent gun good luck

Re: ADVICE please chaps, 308 SPS Tactical

I have 3 SPS tacticals. 2 in 308 and one in 223. They all shoot great. the first thing I did was pull the stocks and replaced them. I feel that you can't go wrong with them.

You can't go wrong with the SPS T for the money, its a great rifle. I have been getting sub MOA groups from day one. I have taken it out to 1200 on steel, and 1K on paper, and nice round holes at 1K. I just recently got the houge stock off of it, haven't had a chance to fully eval the AICS, but I like it so far.

Im not sure how much different the sps varmint shoots than the sps tac in a different stock. I would think they would shoot the same but the tac my have alittle lower muzzle velocity.

Here is my SPS varmint stock:

Here it is in a HS precision stock:

And im trying it in the choate a5 stock:

Re: ADVICE please chaps, 308 SPS Tactical

I did the same thing you are proposing, stock SPS-t in an AICS stock, its very sub-MOA with quality ammo. Though I found that I couldnt get the trigger weight low and consistent enough and changed that out for a rifle basix as well, and had AZ precision replace the knob (though thats just a personal preference thing).

Re: ADVICE please chaps, 308 SPS Tactical

Thanks for all the comments guys, looks like theres lots of very happy customers with the SPS Tac.

Kane308 - thats a sweet setup. Thats pretty much how i want mine.
At the moment ive got a IOR Valdada 6-25x50 on my .204 ruger, thats a modified SPS Varmint, im thinking that the IOR will go on the .308 and stick the Konus back on the .204

Thanks again for your advice chaps.

I will get pictures uploaded once i start the build, although UK firearms licensing takes ages to sort anything out.
