AE action in a McMillan?

What is the possibility of buying an AI AE action, putting a barrel on it, and installing it in an aftermarket stock?

1. Is the action available separately?
2. What would have to be done to mate up a DBM to it?

Any ideas on this? Thanks for the help.

You are probably thinking of the AW. The AE drops in similar to a Remmy.

MK I AEs can be found for about 2000 with almost no rounds on the barrel, so you could purchase it for the barreled receiver. Not sure if they could take AICS mags.

Get a Badger 2008 or 2012..and you are off and running sans the AI name, but all the AI performance, and toughness.

I bet it's possible, but again you need to invest time, research, and money. First, I would ask McMillan, Manners or other chassis developers if they're willing to do so.

Buy a new or used fixed stock AE rifle and disassemble it. Not sure what you could do with the chassis unless another AI AE owner would want one.

This just seems like a lot of money and effort for an action that you may get the same outcome out of other available custom actions.

We looked at putting the AE into a Whiskey-3 Chassis. The way they have the trigger set up it just wouldn't work without a bunch of redesign. I doubt it would be easy in a Manners style either, plus what bottom metal would you use. Really the best part of the AE is the 3 lug bolt and the barrel switch-ability. You can find that in a Badger and the new Badger action has been lightened or you can just get a TRG which has a more comfortable stock anyway.

Just by the AE and put some Viper Skins on it. Very comfortable and bomb proof.

I saw an AE single shot rifle in a PSE composites stock set up for FTR at the recent British Shooting Show. I asked if it could be made with a DBM and was told they are in the pipeline. It's just a matter of time!

There is what I call the "want" factor. If you "want" it bad enough, simply shell out the cash. If you have to ask "how much" you can't afford it.

As mentioned, go with the Badger action (the 2013 now)...it will be a drop in. If you want the AW safety, have a smith make one, wouldn't be that difficult but, you'd have to pay the "want" fee.
