X2

Once you witness the destruction pigs can have on your land or predators can have on your livestock, you wouldn't have second thoughts on participating in this program.

I have witnessed both. Sign me up.

Re: Aerial Hog Hunts in Texas?

This looks like an absolute blast. I'd love to come to Texas and participate at some point...but not for anywhere near $1200. Maybe, hopefully, competition will drive the prices down eventually.

As for the discussion on hunters charging people for the privilege of hunting/depredating/exterminating...good for them. That's a total win-win for them to be able to help alleviate a problem costing them tens/hundreds of thousands of dollars, and at the same time turn some profit. They're providing a service in making their land available for hunters to hunt, and there is (very apparently) demand for this service.

The amount of benefit (in terms of having less crop destruction, etc.) the farmers receive from having hunters participate in their service is irrelevant to whether or not farmers should charge a fee for the hunts. If the prices are more than an individual is willing to pay to participate, then he should simply not participate...apparently there's someone who is willing, or the prices would not be set at the level they are.

Should all dance clubs get rid of cover charges? According to the line of reasoning concluding that farmers shouldn't charge for hunts on their land, the answer is "Yes. The clubs will still benefit from drink and food sales even if they let people in free of charge." But what person in his right mind would demand such a thing? Not very many, if any at all.
