Affordable(?) truck for the working man

Just got a 25 F150 SXT supercab with 5.0, 4wd and 6.5ft bed. 47k. SXT is an XL with painted bumpers, 20" wheels and a center console vs. jump seat otherwise its pretty plane jane.

Was looking at single cab XL models, but no long beds and the short beds while they look cool cant tow for shit. Yea they are rated for it, but everything I read says the ultra short wheel base sucks for towing. Supercab with 6.5' bed is same wheel base as the 4dr with 5.5ft bed so it will tow just fine. Rated at like 10.4k towing, but most ill ever tow is only like 5-6k.

Honestly as a first time owner of a pick up truck , more you use it more you see its quite useless as a working mans vehicle ,concept that was maybe workable in the 50's when shit was not stolen at every corner, once you add a locking box or a hard top you get near useleslly tiny space with high bed and further limited access by 90° droping tailgate that any van can dwarf. If you want to carry lose shit again modern van based flatbeds with 3 180° opening sides run circles around it for Utility .

Today pickup truck is an image thing ,folks like them looks and fancy themselves rugged and maybe works as tow vehicle ,but van beats it 9 times out of 10 in terms of utility and then some.

Toyota has a budget offering rest of the world , but would not expect this to hit US or EU market ever

Vans are gay. You get to listen to all your shit rattle and bounce around all day.

KUV bodies are the best for working out of.

My trucks do truck things like moving things that don't fit in vans.

Guess it helps I live where I can leave the bed full of stuff and it never goes missing.

And all my trucks have 8' or longer beds
