I thought about posting this in the Smitty section but figured it would be better here.

I have a Glock 22c and want to get a barrel that is NOT ported. I have looked at KKM, Wilson Combat, Lone Wolf and a few others. My question: Has anyone experienced any problems (accuracy, malfunctions) with the "drop in" types or would I be better served to get one that needs to be fitted?

Thanks

Re: Aftermarket Glock Barrels

a plano G22 barrel will work just fine, IMHO the only reasons for most of us to put a aftermarket barrel in is for shooting lead bullets and/or threaded for surpressors, but if your heart is set on one KKM would be my choice

Re: Aftermarket Glock Barrels

427 is on the spot . I run hard cast lead. Another reason is the aftermarket barrel on the 10 mm doesn't give me the Glock Smile on my cases due to better case head support. Not an issue if you do not reload.

Re: Aftermarket Glock Barrels

I've used both KKM and Storm Lake barrels (in 40 cal.) and a Storm Lake in 9mm. Both are excellent quality and way beyond very accurate in my Glocks.

Re: Aftermarket Glock Barrels

I have ran KKM, Storm Lake and Lone Wolf and all of the barrels are great the finish on the KKM is nice and the Lone Wolf shoots better than the Storm Lake in the ones I tested. Make sure you fix the crappy Glock Trigger before doing anything first. I don't know why but Glock has the worst trigger in there class of guns.

Re: Aftermarket Glock Barrels

Question for the guys running aftermarket barrels and hard cast lead. Do any of you have feeding issues, as in the slide not fully closing without a tap to the rear? I had a Lone Wolf barrel on a G20 and had to tap the slide shut every time.

I would like to try some hard cast lead and some 45 Super out of my G21 but hesitate to buy another barrel and have the same problem again.

Re: Aftermarket Glock Barrels

I'd say avoid the EFK Firedragon. Its a drop-in. After about 800 rounds, the feed ramp started wearing down on the right side.

While it hasn't hampered performance in the subsequent 1K rounds (or so), it doesn't instill confidence.

While I'd love to plug an AZ company, I can't.

BTW, their customer service sucked. I was tempted to post my email and their response (nonsensical combined with poor grammar and misnomers), but I refrained.

I would advise you buy a barrel and have it fitted, regardless of whether or not it is drop in or not.

Good luck.

Sounds like your ammo was too long.

And for the record, it is my opinion that there is no reason to fit a barrel to a Glock. Parts should drop in. There's only one manufacturer of factory Glock slides.
