Reminds me of that school district that brought an electric wind mill. Ended up costing 4x more money to get rid of it.
The laws of thermodynamics remain undefeated, and it turns out that extracting mechanical energy from the heat of burning dead dinosaurs at about 50% efficiency is as good as it gets.
As well as the law of economics or, as Thomas Sowell would phrase it, the scarcity of resources. The reason we use "fossil fuels" instead of staying with horses and carriages is because the IC engine and fuel is a cost effective way to move the materials and people we need to move.
Look at the real estate it takes to run a wind farm or solar farm.
Then drive through south Texas and see an oil well that sits on a 30' x 30' pad and that is all. The rest of the land is for winter wheat, animal feed grain, corn, wheat, whatever.
Also, the idea that the oil comes from long dead dinosaurs is a theory. Carbons are carbons, regardless of source. It could also come from vulcanism.

I think we can all agree solar is a great supplemental energy source and should be expanded.
But some things just need to run on fuel oils. I wish they would have more flops in their face that directly impacted their lives.

I had to borrow this, it’s too important that it be seen by as much of the general public as I can get it out.
Solar is eating up rich farm lands by the thousands of acres.
A by product of solar is immense reflective heat
There's this ancient technology we still use today... It's called a fucking bridge. High initial installation and replacement costs, but most have no moving parts to maintain.
But if we insist on the ferry there's another green option... Also based on ancient technology. And it harnesses the power of flowing water. Once used to grind grain. Now used to create electricity.
And if that can't be made to work. Yep, a Diesel engine. Oddly enough named after a German guy... And originally old Rudolf intended the fuel to be made from peanut oil. I reckon that's pretty green.
Or just use the damn Diesel they sell everywhere.
The Western world was pretty much built on Christianity along with the ingenuity and work ethic of the Germanic peoples... But this group of geniuses. FFS.

Massive solar farms across northwest Florida. We buy the products to make them from china, they cover the landscape with the plates, that the more they age, the weaker their output is, meanwhile, the land is useful to nothing else, alive or dead.
On that same acreage, we could have planted a mixed tree forest. The more it ages, the more oxygen it puts in the air and the more carbon it captures. Plus it is useful for all manners of wildlife. And, with selective cutting/thinking, it can even be useful for man. Oh, I forgot recreation as well.
But what the fuck do I know, 18 days short of circling this sun 76 times and despite a bachelors degree and masters degree, I’ve lived my life in the woods, working farms and on the waters. Guess I am not nearly as smart nor nearly as knowledgable about what our planet needs as those wahsington politicians and new york city city-tologists.
