I picked up a AI AE MKI .308 today and it came with a 18° MOA mount. I want to use my S&B MKII 4-16x50 scope and set it up to shoot 1,000+. However, I may need more elevation than the scope (around 44MOA) and the 18° mount have available. I looked at a 45 MOA mount at Mile High and I would be willing to go with that if the rifle would zero at 100 yards?

Or, should I just slap my extra NF NXS 5-22 on it and be fine with the 18 MOA mount? What would you do?

Not sure squib It is a 24" barrel and I will shoot 168 BTHP or 175's . The Hornady website has the 168 Match at 2700. Their app shows that at 1000 I will need 40.8 MOA. The range that I hope to join goes to 1250.

I think you'll be fine with the 18 MOA mount.
I do an AI 18MOA mount on a AW with a 5-25x56 and can zero at 100 and only just over halfway up the travel for 1000, so I think you'll make it okay to 1250 with what you have.

Mike I have the 45 moa too but I doubt your gonna need it. Thought your S&B was a mil. Anyway you got it with the 18 moa rail out to 1250.. With .8 mils to spare. Remember the 18 moa rail is a 30 mm not 34.

It Is mil/mil I converted Mils to moa. The other AI mount that I have is 18 moa and it has 34mm rings. If you got it to 1250... I will put the S&B on and see if I can even hit the 1250 even thought the rifle will lol.
