AI AE MkII - Who has one?

Re: AI AE MkII - Who has one?

I am sitting here @ Mile High right now and we just took delivery of about 15 MKII AE's last week, everything from 20" w/Brake to the standard 24" along with a bunch of the Folders and a few Fixed models.

I have a folder in 20" w/brake here that is going home with me.

Give Diann, Randy, or me a shout with any questions and one of us can get you squared away.

Cheers,

Adam

Re: AI AE MkII - Who has one?

I've had mine for almost a month now. It's a beautiful rifle. I'm going broke taking it to the range every week however....

Re: AI AE MkII - Who has one?

zaku65, send it to me then, I will be glad to help releave you of the ammo issue, ha ha. sounds like you are enjoying her.

valmet76, we have S&B's instock at a NICE price, contact either MHSA, Bauer Arms or myself if needed assistance with this.

jasonk, glad to see you are inquiring about the MKII. I have been running them since just after Shot Show. Working the 5rd and 10rd mags, 20" barrels and tearing them apart, back together on the range and shooting. Working absolutely as advertised, like the new trigger setup most all for me on the maintenance end. As for having a selection of barrel and the new mag setup, nothing but possitives there as well.

Re: AI AE MkII - Who has one?

What are the differences between the AI AE Mk II and the AI AW? I know the AW "meets military specifications" in the brochure, but as a civvy, will I lose anything in performance by going with an AE?

Re: AI AE MkII - Who has one?

Sgt Henry, The MkII still needs the rear and recoil lug action bolts re-torqued as with the MkI on barrel changes. The main thing that Stacey was talking about that make his service jobs easier is that you can take the trigger out without removing the action from the stock. Unlike the MkI where the action has to come out to service the trigger assy.

I will get some pics of this rig here when I get unpacked and back rolling again today.

Re: AI AE MkII - Who has one?

Stacey

Thank you for the offer. I appreciate it. I'll be more than happy to wait even if it takes until Christmas. Come to think of it, the AI would make a great stocking stuffer. I know Lori (wife) will want a few new hand bags when she looks at my new toy, so the delay will work in my favor and give me time to save for her presents too. I try to be fair.

Re: AI AE MkII - Who has one?

Just out of curiousity why is there a plate bolted to the back of the mag well? The gun looks great just might have to get one.

Re: AI AE MkII - Who has one?

I bought my new AI AE Mk 2 in green with a fixed stock, 24 inch brl and 2 -10 round mags from Mile High a couple of weeks ago. I haven't shot it yet but comparing it to my Steyr SSG P2k 20 incher, the AI is a lot heavier and bulkier and the bolt and receiver are thicker, heavier and all around higher quality than other bolt guns. You may not be able to tell by looking at them in a photo, but these guns are very obviously the finest factory rifles on the market and although the $3000 dollar neighborhood might sound high for a bolt gun, you are actually getting the most for your money. Unlike a Steyr or Remington 700, these rifles are good to go straight out of the box. I kind of feel funny praising it while I haven't even shot it but I can tell just by holding it that this rifle will shoot nicer than my Steyr SSG.
To give you an idea of the kind of guys who shoot these rifles, log on to demigodllc.com and also go to youtube.com and watch the first 5 minutes of AI's demo video to get an idea of how tough these rifles are ( the guy bounces the rifle off the ground 3 times in a row ).
Judging from my own experience in shopping around for the Mk 2, I have found Diann and Randy at Mile High to have the lowest prices than the other official dealers listed on AI's website. At the time that I bought my rig 2 weeks ago, I saved $230 compared to the other dealers.
Hope that was helpful.

Re: AI AE MkII - Who has one?

Are these rifles benchrest accurate? I know benchrest rifle action usually have very tight tolerances but will one of these rifles shoot just as good? All else being equal of course. I would give my left kahuna to have one of these rifles!!!!! Anyone what a kid???? LOL!!!! Lee

Re: AI AE MkII - Who has one?

Picked mine up from the ffl today-20 inch fixed stock with brake-came with a 5 round mag-bought an extra 10 round mag-Really like the gun-Ran BH 175 through it-shot a few 100 yd groups most 1/2 minute or less (range .4-.6}. Planning to try some load develpment and stretch her legs this weekend-Need to buy a scope mount so Adam I'll be calling soon! Mr Blankenship-thanks for your help during the purchase process. Edit: Shot from bipod rear rest and should read range .4-1.6 not .6 -1.6 was all me - again most were 1/2 MOA)

Re: AI AE MkII - Who has one?

I am by no means an experienced shooter and I know many folks think shooting groups at 100 yrds is lame, but this is as far as my local range goes. This was a 5 shot group with 168gr black hills from a bench rest off a bipod no sandbag. My rifle is zeroed to FGMM but all I had left this week was a box of BHs.

Re: AI AE MkII - Who has one?

Check just went out in the mail today for one from Colorado (milehighshooting). I'll get pics up when it arrives. Now the hunt begins for some glass. It's been 2 years since shooting a AI AW .300 winmag at the International Special Training Centre Sniper Course in Germany and I can't wait to get behind one again.

Went out for a couple of hours today to zero my new AW. It shoots incredibly well. I hope I can measure up to its performance. All I can say is ,,,,,,Best $$$ I ever spent on a rifle right out of the box.
