Re: AI AE MKIII
Ya, the AW is basically gone, it's a legacy rifle now, and the AX has replaced it. The action is the same, but since you can't remove it from either, you have no choice but look at the entire rifle.
The new MkIII AE is every bit a good replacement for someone not wanting to spend AX money yet getting something very close to the original AW.
Back in the day with the AE Mk 1 there was a big difference, today it's all gone, at least in terms of function. it's really just the difference between doing something in 8 minutes or 15 minutes. You have to remove the action, everything else but that is the same. (Ok the magazine, but its still does the same job_)
The AX is the AW action, just in a new chassis, the AE is that same legacy system just not bonded, but the bolt, the barrel, the capacity and missions are so close, if you like the AW and not the AX get the AE Mk 3, especially if you have no interest in the rails. The only difference is, loading it with the magazine in the gun vs only loading it out.
I use both and alternate all the time, I love the AE Mk 3 .... it's the best bang for the buck if you are looking to step up to an AI.
