Advanced Marksmanship AI AW 308 factory set up shooting sierra 175smk - running out of elevation at 1k

I have a stock setup with AI ring/base and a 3-12x50 PMII CW DT which has 56moa of adjustment. I haven't really been shooting in close to a decade and forgot how to use my equipment.

Today, I went out to a 1k range and ran out of elevation when my elevation knob hit a hard stop at 55moa which doesn't make any sense. As I type this, I realize my zero at 200yds was already at 26moa. I asked a few of the more experience shooters and they told me I need a 20moa base which I'm almost certain the stock AI integral base/rings had built in.

I feel like I'm screwing up something basic as I'm supposed to have 56moa of adjustment and only need 37moa yet I'm topping out.

Did I set the zero stop on the elevation turrent wrong or do I really need to get new mount/rings?

What is the muzzle velocity are your 175 smk rounds? Typical factory match loads for that bullet are about 2600 feet per second which would put the drop around 38 moa at 1000yds.

I am guessing by AI ring/base you mean the AI one piece scope mounts.
First of all, do not assume because their mounts can provide anywhere from 0 to 45 MOA built in.
Yours should have a number that corresponds to the ring size, height and MOA/Mil angle.
If you mistakenly installed the mount backwards this could cause the problem you are describing.

After you sighted in did you reset the turret to zero?

How do I go about reseting the turrent to zero? I suspect that's where my fuck up is.

There aren't any good markings! The screw heads will be on the left side of the action if it is on correctly.

I'm not familiar myself with S&B go help. Do you have a owners manual? Or someone will come along go help.

Even with a 0 cant scope mount, you should be able to get to 1000 yds with the double turn turrets.

Re- zero the scope as per instructions, hopefully this will get you back on track.

The scope mount markings will be on the top of the base, under the scope housing. They should read "34 AAA BB" Where 34 is the ring diameter, AAA will be the height of the mount/ring to center of scope tube and BB will be the inclination.

My spar AI mount is 34 385 28
34MM/ 385 (low)/ 28MOA inclination

You may have between 00 and 45MOA incline on the mount.

In this case, your mount is 38.5mm from center of rings to bottom of mount.

Yes sir, I know that. I was trying to explain the numbers to the OP.
I asked the question farther up in this thread if he may have the mount on backward but never got a response to that.

Sorry I didn't answer the original question. My mount is correctly installed; screws are on the left. I looked at the top of my mount and it appears to not have any markings. The gap is pretty narrow so it's hard to get a clear view.

I did unscrew the heads to the elevation cap and was able to reset the elevation knob. I then ran it up and it hit right about 50" for 50moa of adjustment @ 100yds.
