AI AW mag Conversion

Considering having an R700 s/a receiver modified to accept the AIAW magazines. The ability to top load a DBM and the shorter magazines would be great.

Was wondering if anybody knows if the receiver can still be used for factory BDL after being modded for AW mags?

I'm comfortable top loading and would like the option to go back to a BDL stock if the AW modification proves unreliable.

The Rem 700 can be modified for AW’s but you will not be able to go back to a bdl mag box.
Personally I wouldn’t take the risk as reliability will be an issue,Best to start with an action purpose built to run the AW.

Thanks, I was afraid of that.

I understand the 2 and 3 lug difference feeding the double stacks but what actions are made specifically to run AW mags? They are all probably out of my budget which was why I stick with Remingtons.

What reliability issues are possible?

The AW works awesome with the 3lug actions, but sometimes have issues with 2lugs due to the magazine body binding the on bolt body.

There’s the GAP Tempest,Badger,Ultimatum,Curtis Vector,Terminus Zeus.

It will be feeding issues if any.
2 lugs can work well with AW mags if set up correctly,my Defiance AW feeds as good as my tempest but I was also prepared to use aics mags if it didn’t work out!
