AI bolt machining

This has been asked before, but I don’t know what answers they got. I don’t see how the extractor will work once you open up the bolt face. The extractor will be well short of snapping over the case it’s just gonna run into the back of the case head.

I’d be curious as to how you like the setup once completed and how it feeds.
I picked up a 7 round accurate mag and it’s a touch tight against the bolt. But I’ll tune that when I get the setup going. Just feeding brass with my 308 bolt out of the mag I don’t see any issues other than OAL if you want to run heavies from a mag. I plan to run 178 ELDX to start with and the barrel will be setup for a dummy round I’ll be sending BCC

@trophyhunter has been running a WSM (I think 300 wsm) for a while now. He’s also another option I believe to open the bolt up as well. You’d have to ask him though

I’ve been running 300wsm for a good few years. Runs good in accurate mag mags. 7rd, no mods, does well. You can definitely feel the larger brass after it comes out of mag. But feels the same as my AXMC with big magnums.

I think my 223 is the smoothest feeding caliber in my AX.

Just fyi if you’re buying mags the 7 round works. The base of the 3 round mag contacts mag well (at least on my AIAT) before the mag catch is able to grab the magazine. So no go on the 3 rounders
