AI Folder “Butt Bucket”

All, I have an AIAT with a folding stock. I also have a Goruck GR1 that is absolutely my favorite backpack of all time, and I’ve tried them all. Would like to figure out a way to find some sort of bucket that I could attach to the exterior lower molle panel so I can lash my rifle to the outside of the pack. Anybody got any ideas? Maybe a dump pouch?

I use a Kifaru, but the principle should apply.

Old 5.11 pouch. I have a Kifaru pouch for it on order.

Good info, didn’t think about a normal molle pouch. Does the pouch lid get in the way or did you just cut it off?

No lid on the pouch, it zips down the middle. It’s from probably 2007 or 2008, I have no idea what model or anything it is at this point.

I ordered the medium belt pouch from Kifaru. They recommend it for carrying rifles this way, and if it fails Aaron will take care of it.

I used a Kifaru Gun Bearer cradle and lashed the rifle to the back of my Kifaru Reckoning. Didn’t like it on rucks (Mammoth Sniper Challenge). Depending on your needs, I prefer laying the rifle horizontally on top of the pack with the lid cinched down on top of it. The rifle also tore up the pack quite a bit.

I have definitely seen the Kifaru gunbearer, but assumed it’s going to be too narrow and twisty with a folded AT stock.

Kifaru Reckoning, I don’t have an accurate enough scale for 0-20lbs to get a ballpark, but it’s not ultralight. Lighter than an ALICE on a frame though. I want to say the specs are on their website, but I’m not sure. I’ll check and get back to you.

My Kifaru reckoning is just under 3lbs but that is pack only, not frame. With a hunter frame it is right at 6lb.
As shown above using a top zip pocket and straps is a great way to attach a rifle. I use a dust cover on my rifle and a Kifaru Sherman pocket when I want to Strap my rifle on.
Very nice combo imho

If I could figure out a way to secure the top a Sherman pocket seems like a very good option.

About 7lbs or thereabouts. I have the 24” duplex tactical frame with aluminum stays.

I have used this from Hill People Gear but I think the Kifaru large pouch would work better. I don't love how the HPG attaches

I have looked at the HPG bucket about a dozen times and thought to myself it would be perfect..... but only if the stock was unfolded. IF such a thing existed that attached with molle and was wide enough to fit a folded stock and the back part of the scope I'd be in heaven. I guess it's going to be a large center zip pouch.

Saw a few pics of the bottom cams of a compound bow in a nice pouch, looked promising.

I have a HPG pouch on the Kifaru belt and it works great there. Was a bit of a pain to turn the straps back up underneath the PALS and get it into the pouch, but it ain’t going anywhere.

I’m eagerly awaiting the guide lid and Kifaru pouch I ordered lol.
