I just bought one of those Nightforce Army Spec scopes and am dying to put it on something and all I have are some AR's, so I'm trying to narrow down a bolt action.

These Accuracy Internationals have kind of have my attention. I'm debating on getting the AICS and building something, the AE MKIII, or if I can sell a kidney, the AI AX.

Anyway, Ive never handled one of their folders. I was wondering how durable they are as compared to the fixed stock model? Say, for instance, you dropped the thing out of a tree stand, would the survival rate of the fixed stock be much higher than the folder?

I'm sure they lock up tight new, but for those you you that have put them through the ringer, does the folding mechanism wear in time and creating any slop or wobble?

thanks

Re: AI folders...

I have both. At first, that was the same concern that I had. However, that was no longer true. I think the folding stock is just as robust as the non-folding one. It makes the rifle a bit more compact for sure.

Re: AI folders...

The AICS is solid. I had my doubts when I got mine, but like others posted, it locks up like a vault: no worries on the durability department. It would take something really really bad to happen to damage an AICS. Most of the time it would probably be cosmetic and at the worst, you replace the skins. Anything worse than that, you probably got bigger things to worry about.

My AICS Stage 2 is rock solid......don't try this at home, but you could probably hammer nails with it.
