    So I might need some schooling. I got a friend that has a short action all pale brown AI he wants to sell. And I’m thinking about selling all my eggs in the basket and just having one. He says is AXMC but he’s says he’s pretty sure it’s short action only. I can’t really find anything on the matter. Other than they might have made an all pale brown AIAX that resembled AXMC? He bought it new in 2015. Anyone have any clues?

    1 - female allen key slot on right side of receiver
    2 - flat side magwell on right side (no relief cut)
    3 - keyslot handguard

    AT = 1
    AX Short Action = 1 and 3
    AXMC Long Action = 1, 2 and 3

    What caliber does he have it in right now?
    If it's something like .308 or 6.5cm and he doesn't have the magazine adapter installed & doesn't have the original .338 or .300wm bolt, then you know it's not the AXMC

    Then check if it has the quick barrel change retention nut, or says 14 or later for the year date.
    I would bet what he has is a Post 2014 AX in a short action which also has the quick barrel change option

    Have him send you, then post a couple pictures of the rifle, including the area with the date stamp and the serial number & we'll know for sure.

    He only has a 6.5cm bbl and 308 bbl. no extra bolts. And only 308 mags.

    I handled the rifle when I did the transfer for him at the store but haven’t seen it since. He’s on vacation until next week. We got to talking about it tonight so I wanted to see if I could get some clarification before then. He says he’s pretty sure his MHSA invoice says AXMC. So that’s just something they called them even though they aren’t really the true MC rifle? I’m interested imeither way but im sure there’s a price difference in both. I was having trouble finding anything along those lines used or FS to get a feeling of ging rate. I guess I see why now lol.

    Easy, look at the magwell on the right side. If it’s flat it’s the long action. If it’s got an indent it’s a short action.
    I guess I’m certain it’s a short action. His AXMC threw me for a loop thinking they were only long action with kits to make them 308. He said he has no kit. Apparently it’s just a AIAX.
