That would be an AI AX Rifle, not the Chassis system. The AX rifle's action is supposed to be equivalent to the AIAW. So the price tag is not totally unreasonable. Although I have to wonder if there is a premium tacked on.

Expect the AX chassis to be considerably lower in price once they are available.

The early versions I handled this year were very nice and I would not mind having one. If I were in the market for a AW I would definitely look at the AX.

Keep in mind that the rifle listed is a 308. I think everyone has a hard on for the 338, which will most likely be a bit more dough. I really dig the new design, and I really wanted one bad when I saw it the first time, but I couldn't justify the price tag. If I had unlimited funds, I would certainly grab one.

If I had to handicap the price tag on the chassis system, I'd say they would try to list it for at least 1500. Only time will tell.

Re: AICS AX Any News??

338 will only cost a tiny bit more in comparison to the total cost of a .308win AX system. Generally the 338 Lapua does not need a massive amount more metal to be able to perform.

My guess is a .338Lapua Mag will cost about $50-100 more than a .308win going by current prices of AW systems and the price difference between the two calibers.

Haha we can only hope! Its gonna be a bit more then that.

Re: AICS AX Any News??

The AX338 has a new firing train with a 10 round magazine so the comparison with the AW308 and 338 is not the same. We are working on prices now and the AX338 will be available in Q1 2011. It is likely to have a price difference greater than $100 compared to the AX308 but it will not be a huge difference to the 308.
The AICS AX has been delayed as we finalized the AX308, 338 and 50 for production. It is next on the list and I expect it to be available in Q1 2011 as well.

Re: AICS AX Any News??

The Christmas present to myself was an AI-AX in .308 with a 20" UK barrell. Should hit the gun shop tomorrow but since I live in California it will be ten days before I can put some pics up.

Merry Christmas to me!!!

Re: AICS AX Any News??

Mo Zam Beek...The 338 is CIP and it has a "funky Stock" as you say. I think you need to look a lot deeper than that to understand the improvement from the AW338 and other .338's on the market. A call to AINA in Fredericksburg would help. We did not take everything we learned during the 14 years of providing .338's to various military and law enforcement groups around the world to come up with a brand new rifle with only a "funky stock" and the ability to take a round which is a little longer.

Hi Bonneville, Happy New Year... expect we will be chatting again in 2011

The high-end factory rigs are as accurate as most customs.

And you've shot and or owned how many AI rifles to make this educated statement?
