AICS pattern AR

No, for the extra lenght rounds you could use same as for bolt guns.

It would involve changes to recievers, bcg and maybe trigger group.

You could throat barrels longer to take advantage, minor thing.

Same reasons it's done for bolt guns basically.

It would be for competition / hunting not for work.

I can't belive a custom firearms manufacturer (not assembler) hadn't done it just for fun.

Innovation, kind of like building the extra long magazine. (Extra deep)

Next step, build semi automatic platform for it.

Because you can.

Why in hell would you want an inflatable sheep?

You can just get Craig's list hookers.

Point is 0.140 thousands more mag room.

I’ve got 2 genuine AI aics 5 round mags, as well as a few magpul aics pattern pmags. The AI mags are not mystical. The clouds don’t part when used. Honestly, they’re a let down for what they cost. They feed worse than the magpul mags. The follower design is a joke played on the entire shooting community. And, they’re a pain in the ass to load- compared to a SR-25 pattern mag. I MUCH prefer to run SR-25 pattern mags in my RPR. They are more reliable than AICS mags, and less prone to allow nose diving rounds. I swear, if you see someone with a mag issue at a PRS event, it’s because of a fucking AICS mag- and mag malfs are embarrassingly common. Maybe AI has it figured out on their chassis, but fuck if anyone else has it figured out. Nope nope nope on aics mags in a rifle that needs to be reliable.

Edit to add… who the fuck wants an AR built around 10 rounds mags?

I don't know what the mag length is but wouldn't this just be a Armalite AR-10B mag lower pretty much?

I think it's similar to a AICS with the binder plate going from a 10yo memory.

My buddy had a Larue(I think) 308 SBR that ran those mags.

Well I didn't limit it to small frame but that's my main deal.

None of it would matter in short range play, but if you want to dig deeper it could open up choices .
The aics existing mags would be fine.

What caliber and length rounds exactly?

For what caliber????

I run KAC and ASC SS large frame mags for 6.5cm....they allow COAL of 2.865" for ASC and my KAC allow 2.87

I dont load 6.5cm rounds even close to this....so there are mags that give you long coal in large frame gasser. I have no reason to need longer coal in my 6.5cm gasser with these mags shooting 140gr 6.5 projectiles...

Tell me more about cutting mags.

I know I can get + 0.02 with steel which I'm not fond of but that's not going to allow the heavies.

223 is what I fool with the most in gassers but also load 6.5g which could also benifit for some bullets.

I figure any of the small frame cartridges could benifit.

No large frame gassers in my stall.

Pretty much exactly what it sounds like.

This combined with a relief cut in the magwell will get you to 2.41" ish. Those are 75ELD's at about 2900, a pretty big step up in performance from average mag length loads, but not big enough to re work the entire AR platform for.

Holy shitballs, what’s all over that mag and rounds?

I tried a cut mag in my 308 and the cartridges don’t feed for shit. Maybe I need to do more deburring, but a mag that fed fine before the cut (at 2.80 OAL) doesn’t feed at 2.88. Maybe I should do more investigation. There is a REAL difference in group size from 2.80 to 2.88 with this load…

I thought you might be talking about the stock portion which I played around with on the design side for a day. I thought about putting in another day on it and 3d printing it to play with but it's way down the priority list.
