this is laughable in my experience. i originally switched to savage rifles after lackluster performance from remington 700's. fact is many prefer them for accuracy not price. its just a happy coincidence that the price has traditionally been better, though i fear this is quickly changing as the secret is out.

Quickload says it is 2684fps at 61 500psi. That velocity seems to work out to 800m with my xbal program

Sorry, not selling. I only have 2k into a rifle out shooting 5k rigs, guess I got lucky with my escort motor.

It seems like everyone is so hyped up on Remington when the first thing you do is have to fix it. I have a .3 moa rifle without a gunsmith touching it, I also have a remington 700 SPS in .308 that wont break .6 with handloads.

Alberta Tactical is still making and selling the stocks though. I paid 1k

I Love my savage my shooting buddy has the remy700 our groups are both MOA.. The acis stock would be so nice for savage. Why are there so many haters I have a Sav 10FCP with an HS stock and its such a Great rifle . For anyone to call them beaters is just ignorant you can buy both the Remy and the Sav in a inexpensive stock for about the same price. Savage shooters just want options like the Remy bottom line we all shoot and Love it so quit with the hate...

There are 2 reasons that I see and these are just my opinions.

1. Savage changes things way too much Not a standard configuration. When was the last time a 700 action changed??

2. Typically the person who buys a savage buys for the reason you stated accuracy out of the box. Also typically they do not put any more money into a rifle. Not much of an after market crowd.

So manufacturers aren't willing to put their money into developing aftermarket stocks that will change every couple of years.

Wow, definitely some feelings here...

Yeah, I'm a newb. I'd love to have an AW or a custom build, but not enough to empty the safe and sell off what else I have to afford one. AEs and TRGs looked good, but it'd still be a stretch to add the optic and mount and not have to counteroffer the wife with a shopping spree at Macy's to keep peace at home. I'm familiar with 700s, have hunted with them for years. And, looking at what was available that "fit" me, they were a good compromise. I don't own a Savage centerfire. Had a Savage AICS been available, I might have considered one. But, that wasn't an option at the time, so a 700 it was. I'm sure there's probably someone, somewhere, who'll say I should've just saved up and bought the AW, AE, or TRG. Bottom line, I'm equipped and shooting right now, not pinching pennies and dreaming about what might materialize tomorrow.

If a chassis was important, shouldn't that have been included in the original purchase decision? What good is expected beyond "venting" that one would like to see a Savage AICS when it was known unobtainium when the rifle was purchased? Kind of like buying a GMC pickup and then complaining that you can't get it with a Cummins diesel. You make your choice and pay your money.

I'm truly a bit perplexed by the brand-bashing that seems to go on between the Remington and Savage crowd here otherwise, and it really can detract from the quality of any discussion wherever it's introduced. Seems to me there are a lot of great rifles on the market now, and we should all be very happy with the choices we have the opportunity to make - particularly when we consider the alternative?

its all smoke and mirrors fron AI so far. if Alberta Tactical could make one and SSS makes a mag system that fits both screw spacings then i find it hard to believe that AI cant figure out a way to make their stock fit any savage


is it so hard to convert the savages with the bolt release in front of the trigger back to the old style bolt release? or maybe that remmy side release?

Just a heads up, Alberta Tactical didn't make the Savage AI chassis - they subcontracted my company to manufacture them.
I stopped production of them once I heard AI was going to be making their own, didn't see any point in pissing in AI's cornflakes
if they were coming out with a "real" Savage AICS. As far as I know AI never asked us to stop production,
I even mentioned it to one of the AI reps when I was at SHOT and they didn't seem put out by it.

To the original post, I'd love to see these get done. I sometimes wonder if AI doesn't just announce something to block others off from building them. Of course I can't see how that would happen as AI charges an arm and a leg for a stock system. I would think many an enterprising company could build one and sell it for less and still make good money.

Well i for one hope you decide to start making them again....Fitting both bolt patterns(4.25,,,4.400)will make us all happy......Hell if you wanted a group buy im sure there is some more on here that would be interested.....

So what company is it?

I've been waiting for an AICS and feel like I'm getting strung along too. I keep hearing about a stock being in the works and it should be out soon. Total bull shit but I'd still like an AI for my 10FP.

I'd buy one if some one would make one. I can't cost more that buying a Mcmillian or HS and then having to buy AI mag compatible bottom metal and then having in-letted for the bottom metal. whats that run? $800 bucks?

I would have loved to had the AICS as an option. I spent $450ish for an SSS stock.(Still waiting for it) Plus, I will want to spend another $300 on CDI's bottom metal that he doesn't make yet, for my model. The money for the AICS is not the issue for me.

I do see why AI is dragging their feet. Savage keeps changing bolt spacing and bolt release configurations.

I would buy a long action AICS for a Savage yesterday. I'd be just as happy with an AX AICS for a Savage long action as well. But I know neither is going to happen.

you start up that and make one in 4.40" and dont even worry about the bolt release and you will sell enough. dont worry about skins, just the frame. mill it and drill it and make it lightweight and i bet you would sell a few. hell i bet you still have the CAD programs saved? id love a folder.

and people, lets not turn this into a sales thread. PM the man and keep it that way


OH AND WHY DOESNT AI CONTRACT YOU TO MAKE THE SAME THING?? THEY COULD HAVE HAD IT OUT BY NOW

Yup.

Barring a cease & desist letter from AI, I say crank the CNC back up and see just how many chassis sell for an action that doesn't have "much of an aftermarket crowd".

I'd bet plenty on just the Hide alone.

The "expected good" is proving the free market works - showing a for-profit business that there is a market for a certain product should they decide to make it.

We hope they start to make a product that we would like to purchase and use on rifles we like. We want them to know there is a demand for that product, which any good business must see before devoting resources to produce something.

If a Savage AICS isn't ever made by AI or Alberta (or subcontractor) or anybody else, our world won't end - we'll continue using the B&C, Choate, Manners, McMillan, etc. we've been using on our Savages and be just as happy with our ugly barrel nut. And if somebody really has to have an AICS, they'll buy a Remington or Rem-pattern action.

I don't know that I would buy one anyways... as I am a Manners Stock kinda guy. I absolutely LOVE my T3!! I would just like to see the stock make it to at least a small run of production for the guys that would love to have one, but right now can't.

I like to see Savage shooters happy!!

The big issue with Savage being, will they move the action spacing again or change the action dimensions? If they can stick to one format from here on out, I think more companies will pickup the pattern for stocks. I would love to see a Whiskey-3.

For a "fun gun" the floating bolt head and ability to change barrels at home are a great selling point.

LA has been same screw spacing from start and support for the LA is basically slim to none.

I agree to a point, but they have changed the bolt release and other action dimensions on thier long version.

ONLY DRILL THE ONE SCREW HOLE THAT BOTH ACTION SPACINGS HAVE IN COMMON?

and then let the customer decide how to get the other hole drilled or maybe, just maybe, build a few in each and see what sells first and them make more of them the next time?

honestly if a company made famous by Wile E. Coyote can make a DBM with an oblong hole and an offset oblong bushing and have it fit both action spacings then i would think AI could easily solve this issue and get that thing to market. so there must be another reason they dont want to. they have been showing it off at SHOT for two years now and i still say its just a savage glued in a 2.0 chassis because as you recall they said they wouldnt be making a savage folder.

its a ruse.
