I have some Triad tactical flip top mag pouches and some kydex ones I have made. I can't decide which ones I like better.
But lately on mag swap stages, I have my second mag Velcroed on the rifle, or if it's a mag out move on the stage I put it on the Velcro on the side of stock to it's right there.

Not a bad idea at all. Where on the rifle have you found is the best place for the velcro?
The Taco's are where it's at for mags. They hold the AICS 10 rounders perfectly. Great retention, and you can remove a mag very quickly and efficiently. No need to deal with flaps or any of that other nonsense.

Big Dog kydex mag holsters work great. Be careful with any mag pouch though, repeatedly going prone can allow dirt and dust to get in and cause you grief in a match! I started putting my mag pouch behind my waist for that reason.
The HSGI Taco is excellent for the AICS 10 rd magazines. In the event you are using the AW magazine, try the TAB gear mag pouches. Both are of excellent quality and are very functional.
