This will be for my SPS Tactical .308. The factory Hogue stock is a bit small and light for my liking, and I am interested in having a detachable magazine. I have pretty well narrowed it down to an AICS or a Manners T5A, possibly a T4A, either way with a DBM. I have had a bit of trigger time on an AICS, liked it, but didn't have an opportunity on the Manners.

I can have an AICS as soon as I make a decision, or I wait 13 weeks for the manners. Time aside however, for those who have used both, which do you prefer and why?

I used the search function but surprisingly couldn't see where this thread had been posted before.

Thanks!

I would have agreed with you until i had a T4A in hand here. They are both great stocks, i would try my damndest to get hands on a Manners T4 or T5 if you can. Manners are awesome and Todd and Tom are the greatest to work with, also they do build a hell of a stock and stand behind their work 100%.

True the T5A doesnt fold but that only really effects packing and storage. I would think the T5A would be lighter also.

In my opinion Manners stocks are the highest quality out there.

Especially with the addition on the Mini Chassis system, I could never choose an AICS over a Manners.

Manners all the way.

I'm leaning towards ordering a Manners and getting an AICS in the meantime. I'll just sell whichever one I like less here.

Everything the Manners Mini Chassis has.

Re: AICS vs Manners T5A for r700 SA

Not sure that it is a question of winners or losers.

The Manners Mini can be ordered with any of their tactical stocks not just the T5A. So if you don't want or like a thumbhole stock, your not married to one. Also the AICS is rather hefty. The manners can finish up several lbs lighter than the AICS 2.0.

That said, the AICS 2.0 folds; takes a spigot for a bipod, getting the damn thing off the forend; and you can change the skins to fit your mood/wardrobe. And no waiting.

Both work, and work well. It's matter of taste and fitting to your anatomy, and whether you use the services of a gunbearer.

Myself I have an AICS 2.0, and no friggen gunbearer in sight. Still trying to figure out how to put wheels on this thing.

I've already ditched one AICS for the T5A, more than likely will be replacing another AICS with a T5A as well. I won't say I dislike AICS, I love them, but the T5 is just a better, more comfortable stock to me, and with the mini chassis, I don't have to fool with bedding.

Re: AICS vs Manners T5A for r700 SA

i have both and wouldnt even look at a aic again. its heavier and for some reason when i lay behind it the stock feels uncomfortable. just my opinion.

Re: AICS vs Manners T5A for r700 SA

I would love a chance to get some trigger time with both, but I think the only way that would happen is to buy both. I live in Maine, so there aren't a ton of other shooters around.

Re: AICS vs Manners T5A for r700 SA

Well the aics is what I suggest. No wait time, high resale value, no smithing really required. Skins are interchangeable. Mono pod will fit right into rear without any modifications. I love my aics. Although my manners (T1) feels better than my AICS in my hands! Both companies are top notch in my book.

</div></div>I have a couple hookups for lobster, makes it more reasonable to do for sure. My wife and I are having it tomorrow night, as a matter of fact...

Re: AICS vs Manners T5A for r700 SA

On a side note, I think I'm going to scrap this project and upgrade to a TRG or an AI AW. I don't want to dump a bunch into this 700 and have it still not be what I want.

Re: AICS vs Manners T5A for r700 SA

Or you could just build a trued 700 and put a 5x25x56 S&B on it for a little over 5k like I did. That combination will most likely out shoot the driver.

I agree the AIAW is where it's at. I want one, but your looking at 5k+ for rifle alone. I will go so far as to say that an AIAW might not out shoot a well built 700.

I am biased because I have a built 700 in an AICS. I would love to buy an AIAW, but I can't shoot better than the 6.5x47 I have now. It does everything I want to do and then some it is scary accurate.

</div></div>I see where you are coming from, it's just that by the time I buy the AICS, true the action, and upgrade the barrel, I could have had the TRG that I think I would rather have.

The S&B is next though. I think I might save the difference between the AI AW and TRG and just go with the TRG and get a S & B.
