Re: New M2008/AICS .308win PICS

I thought so, but Badger recommended the higher ones b/c the cheekrest on the AICS chassis is a bit high to begin with. Anyone else care to chime in on this?

Re: New M2008/AICS .308win PICS

That is a great looking stick my friend!
I have a very similar rifle. Badger, Bartlien AICS 2.0 folder and Atlas bipod. It is a real hammer! Can hold under 1/4 MOA if I lay off the caffine. Mine is all black and wears a NF scope.
The Badger action is a great action. I just had another rifle built in 6.5 Creemoor on one.

Take the rings off the base, leaving the scope mounted in the rings. Tighten down the base to torque then put the rings back on, push them forward in the slot as you torque them down. If those are the rail slots that fit for your relief mark them or just count the slots.

As far as the front screw, I would assume it is shorter than the rest. Just call GAP or Badger to verify. I would also make sure GAP knows about the base not being screwed down.

I know they are busy cranking out rifles right now, as hopefully I am gettting a call Monday.

By the way what contour is that barrel, normally the FTE looks huge to me, but it looks real good on your gun.

Awesome build.

Re: New M2008/AICS .308win PICS

Cool looking stick!

The barrel contour looks like our #14 / Douglas #7 contour. We call it the M24/M40 contour. It measures 1.200 x 3.000 str. tapers to .900 @ 26". If you cut it shorter than the muzzle will be slightly bigger. The actual M24 contour measures 1.238 x 3.000 str. tapers to .905 @ the muzzle regardless of finish length.

From 5 feet away you can't tell the difference in looks!

A little less than $1k for an M2008. Add another ~$1k for the AICS chassis, and ~$1.6k for the GA Precision work and parts as specified, plus your cost of scope.

Lol. No, that is not all, if you also want to do precision reloading. Just take it one day at a time and don't try to add up the costs.

That was the method I was thinking. I called GA Precision and they said that method works.

On the screws, Badgers actually says all screws are the same length, but that it shouldn't be a problem of it being too long to touch the barrel threads.

GAP is sending me the screws. Hopefully I can get them by this week.

I probably won't get to test out this boomstick for a bit waiting for the stuff to arrive. I'm getting real antsy though. As I'm fairly new to rifle shooting (I'm mainly a pistol shooter), is there anything wrong w/ dry firing?

Re: New M2008/AICS .308win PICS

The rings are personal preference, shoot those and see how you like the cheek weld.

I had 1" high rings on my AICS and the cheekpiece was always as low as it would go to get the proper cheek weld. The higher rings might work out well for you.

I believe that having it closer to the bore allows you to use more of the scopes elevation, but I could be wrong about that.

It does keep a lower profile and makes for a tighter package.

VERY nice stick btw.

Re: New M2008/AICS .308win PICS

You try to get the scope as low to the barrel as you can. At close ranges the difference in height between the line of sight through the scope and centerline of the barrel would in this case be a couple of inches at least.

Like shooting iron sights on a AR15/M4 close range. You have to aim higher with the sights to get bullet placement where you want it to impact.
