Eotech gives me a better working image and reticule imposed when I lean in behind it with my googles, I like the Aimpoint battery life and ability to leave it on ready to go. Both optics working correctly . My opinion is this .. Working optic (fresh battery turn on lock load and pre known targets to engage I like eotech . Exps ..Normal SHTF gun by my bed or in the truck no known targets to engage I like Aimpoint.. But I like both for there ability to allow me hi speed target acquisition with or without head mounted NV. I lean Aimpoint a little more

552 Pro's:
- larger aperture tends to let a little more light in to the tube
- AA batteries are available everywhere
- smaller aiming point allows for a little more precise engagement
552 Con's:
- Waterproofing is highly questionable. Model has always had issues with the battery compartment "weeping"
- Battery connections are poorly designed. contact springs can become "captured" by the recoil buffers and sight will shut off. I have fixed more sights, than people, with my hemostats.
M2 Pro's:
- Amazing battery life
- Extremely durable
M2 Con's:
- 1/3 N batteries can be difficult to find. Not terribly important since they last so long but, you just never know when Murphy is going to show up!
- Slightly less light through the smaller aperture.
- 4 MOA aiming point
I base all of the above on my duty experience with both sights and, using both for hunting. For the money, I will take the rugged reliability of the Aimpoint. I had a bad run with the EO Tech when we tested them for use in SOCOM. The Marines had similar results. Most recently, they did not pass the Army test. Surprisingly, we ended up with it in the SOPMOD kit! Go figure. Didn't matter much, as half of us ran our own Micro T-1's.
After saying that and, in all fairness to L3, they recently sent me an XPS-3 to test and, I think, to try and win me back over. It's first 1000 rounds have shown it to be a good optic. I am going to turn up the heat on it and see where she goes from here. It will probably not earn a place on my "work guns" but, I highly suspect that it will find a permanent home on a hunting rifle.
Bottom line: either one of these optics will serve you well. I am obviously biased towards the Aimpoint but, that does not mean the EO Tech would be a bad option for your application. Weigh the factors that matter the most to you and, the choice should become obvious.

My input with a 552...Let me preface first by saying I was a EARLY EO Tech type of guy who owned the first Bushnell Holographic site for recreational work.
Graduated to the 552 years later after the Poe-Poe Academy...Went back and forth to the great EO land of Oz with severe battery drainage, power issues and never ever resolved. Present day sorta, 4 years ago my boy used my 552 for a hockey puck and only lasted two shots and he missed the net both times! Never looked back...
Now for real present day, I still await the final judge and jury with Kyle, Chip and a few other instructors who have the newest XPS's.
With that said, I do like the wider FOV for NOD directly behind work. But then again that auto shutoff stuff after 8 hours or so?? Lemme see....Rollin' code to shots fired on your 9th hour of 4/12's and pull the AR out the dash rack to engage a$$ hole...No time to finger bang the site back on that suddenly went off with it's alarm clock, so hope you took Pat Rogers advice and always have ones irons UP!
(I base the above IMHO opinion on LE Duty work).
Now back to our regular scheduled Aimpoint program...

Well I will start out saying I'm strictly a hardcore hunter with a bad 20 year NV buying addiction. No kicking down doors or shooting bad guys for me so my gear has become more and more specialized over the years on what works best for me in the woods. When it comes to aimpoint and eotech they are both very nice systems its hard to go wrong either way. I tend to perfer the Eotech for one main reason: The bigger FOV with NV behind the sight just gives me a better shooting image in dark rural conditions.I haven't had any of the issues above I have half beaten to death a few of my older eotechs the still run perfect despite their rough looks now.I have heard of guys having battery draining issues on the earlier eotechs though. The aimpoints do have much better battery life and the T-1 is my second favorite sight behind the eotechs for night time use. My favorite NV sight is the Class 1 IR laser Eolad TNVC sold me last year best of both worlds having laser also for night time work. Alot of guys just mount a IR laser also on their rifle and don't think you need a all in one system I can agree with that alot of times. In my case not every rifle I use is a AR15 style being a hunter I have compact bolt guns which have limited rail space so can't hang gear everywhere on the rifle, a system like the Eolad works well there. Heck anymore I have just become a LDI IR laser guy 90% of the time their fast on target, work well at my normal shooting ranges, and are just easy to use.

I am on the same page as Phantom223 as I like the maximum FOV and instant targeting the Eotech affords me.
As far as reliability, I just sold one of my older non-NV Eotech's that I bought new from Cabela in 2007 to a friend for $300 bucks and he loves it. Never ever had any problems with any of them either.
I especially like the 6.5MOA circle in the Eotechs as that is what I use for quick NV aiming at night, not the center dot.
I still have my NV Eotechs but have switched over to NV ACOGs primarily due to my astigmatism....astigmatism and red dots do not go well together!

+1 for Phanton223's comment on the Eolad. I should have mentioned it. A fine collaboration between EoTech and LDI. We have quite a few customers who like this setup for hunting.

I always wanted an Eolad but thought that they were for Mil/LE only so I never got one, but that was what I originally wanted many years ago...

They are now Class 1 options as well on the IR laser portion.

Yep the Class 1 IR Eolad is pretty cool plus you can get the laser zeroed dead on very easy since the eotech/laser are so close togather. Its alittle bulky since its the two AA battery model but still more compact overall than say a Eotech and LDI OTAL togather. I remember seeing the military only IR Eolad systems for years and dreamed of having one so when the Class 1 Eolad IR model came to be I bought one fast. I bet I killed 50+ hogs with that Eolad last year its bad news down range.

One more thing that is important point, aimpoint when using a 3x day time magnifier have a parallax shit around 2-4 MOA . Eotech I have not noticed shifts from parallax using a 3x daylight magnafier
