Rifle Scopes AK-47 Reflex Sight

Alright so I am looking for a quality reflex sight for my AK. It is already set up for room clearing minus optics and I think it is finally time to break into the piggy bank.

I prefer a sight with an extremely low profile. (Eotech would be the most profile I would want and that is definately pushing it)

Dot color is not that important but if it has green and red that would be a huge plus.

I would like to keep cost under $600, difficult I know.

I had planned on using a LaRue mount for the optic and have been looking at the LaRue Iron Dot itself but wanted to get some second opinions. Thanks!

Hate to burst your bubble but I'm pretty sure that LaRue stopped making the irondot. It's no longer listed on their website and I couldn't find one for sale anywhere. If you do find some info on them please let me know.

Larue quit making the AK Irondot when Burris ceased making the Fastfire for the Fastfire II. I can't remember what exactly they changed on the Fastfire II (switch, sensor or something) but it made it so the Larue AK Irondot would not work.

a few sights come to mind, the aimpoint micro's, the trijicon RMR's and if you really like e0tech and want to keep it small, the xps or exps

Ya I actually did some research after I posted that. Friend of mine is a photographer for a lot of the big companies and said that LaRue halted civilian production due to a military contract. Not sure if the contract was on the LaRue mount or the Fast Fire II.
Lot of great suggestions guys I appreciate it and keep them coming!
And yes Cobra I know it is somewhat comical. I got bored though and decided to build it for fun and what do you know it works perfectly for clearing out pigs on the ranch. Granted at this point I think I am going to need a helicopter with a minigun to actually make a dent in the population.

there are a lot of rus mil spec optics imported for the AK's.
If you AKM has a side rail you are golden as most come with mount and sight all in one and are very repeatable when removed and put back on. The cobra is my favorite but the pitbull is really good also as are most PK style tube sights.
try kalinkaoptics.com or avtomats-in-action.com they have a great selection and good prices for a lot less than $600

Kobra is an excellent red dot (holo) and it works great (no parallax, thickness/glow size of the reticle can be easily set, different aiming points, dot, chevron, combination dot/chevron with ~5mil spacing between two, "cross").

How are you planning on mounting whatever sight you get? Have you looked at this?

I have heard about the Kobra but have had trouble finding ones that are not counterfiet/knockoff online. I will check out those two sites range thanks!
Mike, I currently have a quad rail on the handguard. I really dont have a plan yet as to where I want to mount it. Either over the dust cover via a side mount or a sight replacement would be preferable. I have a friend that has that kind of an Eotech setup. Only issue there is I am trying to avoid those kind of expenses and am trying to keep it in the $300-$400 range. Love Eotech, hate the price haha

The best setup i've gotten to toy with (dont have an AK anymore) was an ultimak Low profile mount that replaced the gas block and the upper handguard. It presented a VERY low pic rail that allows you to install a low mounted aimpoint T1. THe result is a very fast, lightweight, aimpoint that still let u use iron sights.

I have siderail and Kobra with mount for it (keeps zero, rock solid) as for where to buy check out http://www.eastwave.ca/products/scopes/cobra.html .

Mounting anywhere else (gas tube, handguard, action cover) can be questionable as Saigas or Aks arent built to be very tight fitting and unmovable (especially the cover) and because even minute movements of mount/entire fixture will cause you to change zero (every time you disassemble weapon) a lot. There might be mounts that work well but i am not 100% about this - anyone using such mounts and finding them ok?
