Polio is not an issue, mostly because the dirty, contaminated environment it flourished in has been cleaned up.
Before you sound ignorant, go look up if polio is a common or even optional given vaccine for children in California....
Then go look up the poor folks that got a "unfortunate" vaccine version and were guaranteed to die of cancer when they got older....

Now as to the rest.
Her kid could probably get measles, mumps, German measles, chickenpox and simply be sick for a week or two with each and recover fine. Those all have a greater than 99.99 percent survival rate.

You might find a lot of folks have had the whole batch of them plus some extra fun thrown in while they were kids & survived just fine with no lingering effects. Those same folks may also know hundreds of other children who had a similar experience and all are good and fine.

It was a flippant comment. Meant more to play on her comment about a plant based diet, and no medical intervention. Broccoli is not going to help.

I led with Polio because it was the first thing that came to mind. Why? Well, as a matter of fact I have a family member who contracted Polio and survived being crippled. You couldn’t even tell he had it today. No braces..etc. So, no I’m am not brainwashed. It is rare, but there are occasional cases.

You’d be very wrong if you think I am going to lecture individuals as to how best to manage their healthcare. I’m not that guy. So go pick a fight elsewhere.

I don't care if the kid has long hair or acts effeminate, but when it gets to the point where the parent is telling a boy that he's really a girl and starts pumping him up with hormones, that's where I have the issue.

I had seen, somewhere (I don't recall) but the belief of the person making the statement was basically, the parents were Okay with having a "misgendered" child, because that wasn't as disappointing as having a gay child.
Those same parents would damage the child, both physically and mentally, buy pushing the gender reassignment bullshit.
