By "abortion" do you mean murder due to selfish convenience?
Tough one here. Morning after pill I'm kind of ok with, even though technically without interference the group of cells is an individual human (different dna to mother and father). Abortion in this case is a much tougher ethical question. Rape is abhorrent and evil. However the actions of the father, are not the babies fault. Not the mothers either, I understand that. One issue most people don't realise, is that abortion can leave the mother sterile, and is not a risk free procedure for the mother. I cannot imagine the turmoil for women who get raped and fall pregnant, so I can't have a firm conviction here like I do with abortion in general. If by some chance, there is a lady reading this who has been raped, please do not feel judged in any way by me. All I can offer you is my sincere wish of peace and healing in every way possible.
That said, the VAST majority of abortions are not due to rapes or incest. The overwhelming majority of abortions are simply convenience - lack of foresight by the parents to use protection, or forgetting to due to substances (alcohol etc). I have no grace for people who think abortion is a form of birth control.
Not that this is a solution to the issue, but even talking about this makes me want to protect my wife and daughter that little bit more than I do already. Bring up my boys to be real men - to value the women in their lives. First, by honouring their mother, and protecting their little sister, as practice for how they will honour and protect their girlfriends, and wives in the future. I'm probably super traditional in family values, but my Dad did it that way, and so will I.

This needs an analysis without emotion.
At the end though we are emotional animals and certainly it has to be considered we dont always do or dont do things because it makes the most sense rationally..........sometime we do or dont do things because they are the right thing to do/not do.

Her body her choice... False analogy, not her body and she made a choice knowing it was possible to get knocked up.A couple of things here:
Abortion for 1. Threat to the life of the mother, 2. Severe malformation/non-viable, 3. Rape, incest, all had availability BEFORE Roe vs Wade. That has always been a false argument, and still is. Availability to termination of pregnancy for real medical reasons has never NOT been available.
The picture of a coat hanger in the alley, is only due to "murder for convenience". Medical necessity has always allowed for safe, professional care. Even in states where the procedure is disallowed for any reason, travel to a neighboring state is simple.
"My body my choice" Flat out bullshit: If it was HER body, SHE would be the one who dies. A pregnancy involves two humans to start and two humans to complete. The mother and the child are two different beings. The child may be connected, may be totally dependent, but it is still a separate human life.
Abortion for no other reason than convenience is a decision made WITHOUT consultation and consent of one of the parties, the party to whom it affects the most.
Roe Vs Wade was NOT about a "woman's choice", as marketed. It was about not allowing a husband or father to have a say at all. He wanted the child. She wanted to kill it to spite him. Out of that, has grown a huge amount of furor, and an entire baby-killing industry.

Me and you are on the same page. My problem is with abortion being pushed to insane levels and really detaching the humanity of the situation.
In my line of work, I've had to take women for psychiatric evals because they are suicidal after having an abortion. It's not pretty.
That and Margaret Sanger was a racist eugenics pusher who wanted nothing but the master race, so she founded Planned Parenthood and conveniently had the clinics placed in the high-density minority population centers......................

The above was more of a statement concerning this specific circumstance than a retort.I have often thought that when people try and argue for gun control, luckily I'm not arguing a point I was merely asking for opinions.

I believe the abortion issue is biggest one facing our country and that until we get this one right, we’re going downhill fast.
Perhaps we can use the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and pledge of allegiance to prove how wrong we are for allowing abortion.
“We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.___ That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”
The first sentence covers completely what our founders thought about humanity and that every human being has the right to Life. The fifth amendment to our Constitution guarantees that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of the law. Finally, the last words of the Pledge are “liberty and justice for all.” That SHOULD be enough.
The second sentence is perhaps the most condemning since it answers the question, “why do we have government?” The founders stated explicitly that the only reason for a government to exist is to secure the rights of the individual, the primary of which is LIFE. They also stated that Government has just powers - and it does. Therefore, a government that will not use its just powers to protect life, especially innocent life, has dealt a serious blow to its legitimacy. It’s a shame that a Nation who does so much good around the world, gives so much in charity, and has sacrificed so much and so many for freedom could let such an abomination go on at home.
If you’ve read this far, my since thanks. One more thing, I believe there is a serious case to be made proving that Roe v Wade is unconstitutional, probably beyond the scope of the thread at present. Finally, it’s a hell of a shame that a bigger stink gets made over waterboarding some terrorist than over killing a baby.
I'm a Christian, and will gladly discuss this issue from that angle, but thought this might be a simpler approach since all Americans should respect the Constitution, and thereby the Declaration, which is its foundation. Any Okies who do not know about Senate bill 13 please PM me.

I'm sure I'll get torn up for saying my piece-
It is none of my business what happens between a woman and her doctor. I can only imagine how hard of a decision that would have to be for someone. Who am I to decide what is best, right, wrong for someone else.
We can all agree or disagree that abortion is right or wrong. But in the end we aren't the ones having to make the decision.
