I've done some testing with the 2000MR powder and the 175 SMK's. Infact, I may stop searching for a better mousetrap.
Remington 700 5R Milspec 308 24" barrel.
Federal brass
Winchester primer
47.5gr 2000MR
175 SMK
2.820 OAL
Velocity 2689 fps
ES 29 (Higher than I would like)
Groups .3's - .4's
Same as above but 48 gr got me up to 2730 fps but accuracy dropped back to .5's-.7's. I tested the same combination up to 48.5 gr but, no chronograph data. Haven't seen any pressure signs what so ever.
Very large sweet spot at 47.5gr . The velocity and vertical impact didn't change with +/- .3 gr of powder. Still haven't checked temperature sensitivity but, it's supposed to be pretty good. My next test is checking this load combination with the 178 Amax and Lapua & Win brass.
I'm interested other data!

46.2 gr in Winchester brass .010 off lands with CCI LR primers is getting me 2747 with std of 4-6 and Es less than 15. Grouping is .3-.5.
Keep in mind my barrel is a fast 24, FGMM 175 gives me 2640-60. I went to book max and was over 2800 fps before pressure signs, didn't see any need to go over about 2750, especially with so much left over capacity...temp isn't an issue.

yep,love this shit.i was getting 2750,win. brass,175smk,210m primer,47.8 grns.very temp stable,shot several groups .3-.4.SD around 10.all out of factory 24" remington r5 barrel.meters like water.

It will get you about 80-100FPS over a comparable varget load in 308 w/175SMK. Muzzle report is noticeably higher though. Best charge weights I found were 46.5 in LC and 47.5 in Win COAL = book length.

I just loaded some 175smk's over 47.4gr with fgmm brass and br-2 primers. Hope to try them out soon. My new chronograph will be here tomorrow.
I am getting about 2620 with varget; I hope 2000-MR will do better.

I don't even use br primers. Get low Es with standard LR primers. When I did my initial development, I was around a node at top of book, and never really pursued it. I may try a few different charges up around 47.5 and see what that gets me. Regardless, at the last 1k shoot I was at 9.35 mils to 1000 yards. That rocks for a 308. Getting under 9 WOULD be even better.

Caveat to above post. It was 107 degrees with 30% humidity at 541 feet elevation. Early morning was about 9.5-9.6 mils.

2000mr is <span style="font-style: italic">the</span> powder for my LTR. I run 48 grains under a 175 smk at 2650 from a 20" barrel. I use a Fed 210 match primer.

I just loaded up a 44-48gr ladder with 175 smks in lapua brass. Going to try them out of my 26" barrel this week. Will post results.
Anyone shoot the 185 berger juggernauts with this yet? I dont see why you couldnt get 2700 fps with this powder... If it was accurate that would be a pretty amazing load.

I shot the Juggernauts and 185 hybrids out of my 28 inch barrel FTR rig for about a year in matches and did very well. I was getting 2800+ with 47.6gr in Lapua brass and CCI BR2s. This was safe in my gun but may not be in yours, be careful and work up. The load was very accurate but hardish on brass, after 4-5 firings I would chunk the brass as the pockets were getting loose. ES was 13 for 10 shots over the chrono. I also shot the 200 hybrids with good success using 46.3 gr and BR2s and the velocity was about 2650-2660. I shot that load in several matches also with good results.
2800 fps is moving! I hope I can get similar results. Thanks for the info.
What was your oal on the 185s and 200s?
The 200s were loaded 2.290 base to ogive and i think the OAL was 3.037 give or take .001
Can't remember off hand what i had the 185s loaded to.
Keep in mind that this was in my FTR rig and i was single loading.
I am running 185 Berger Juggernauts over 46.5 grains if 2000MR in LC brass with Fed 210 primers, pushing 2700 fps from a 20" loaded to 2.955". I noticed report is noticeably louder even suppressed. It is shooting in the .2's and .3's. Just won my first comp with them. .3 grains either way didn't show much velocity swing or POI change.
Use it SPECIFICALLY for the 175 +'s in .308. My old GAP Crusader 22" bartlein. (Sold it) It went from 2680fps with 44.5 varget at 2.825" to 2770 fps with 48.0 2000 mr at same length. Lapua brass, fgm210m. Accuracy was in the .2's usually.
Since I like to run the heavys when shooting LR, power pro fits the bill.

Still shooting 2000mr with the 175 smk and getting good results. 47gr is pushing 2700 fps and 48gr is pushing 2760 fps out of a 26" barrel, with lapua brass and br2 primers loaded to 2.85" oal.
Getting 2770-2780 fps with 168 amax and 48gr.
Accuracy is in the acceptable range, right in the 3/4 moa area on average, with a stock rem 700 sps-v in a aics chassis.
Imr 4064 seems to net slightly better accuracy but at 50-75 fps slower on the last node (43gr).
For progressive loading this powder will be hard to beat as it throws way better than 4064 or varget. Not super temp sensitive either.

It's all I use for .308, .223 and 22-250. It really shines in the 22-250 with 80g Hornady's and Bergers. 3240 FPS out of my 26" McGowen Bull 1:8 twist 22-250. 35g in Lapua brass with BR2 primer. COAL is 2.62. Shoot it to 1000 yards with ease. I single load an 80g Amax in my DMR AR for coyotes. At 24.5g I'm getting 2850fps out of my 20" barrel. My .308 results are similar to everyone elses.
So 47-48 grains under a 175SMK seems to be the magic weight in a Lapua case? Hmmmm, gotta give this stuff a try! My stock Rem 5R produces notably slower velocities than average, and I'm looking to be well over 2600fps. All these awesome velocities without any pressure signs?
It depends. If I load 2.80-2.81 oal I get slight ejector marks by 47gr. If I load out to 2.86 oal 47gr shows no ejector marks but 48gr still does slightly. Seems like the further you load them out, as long as you are not jamming into the lands, peak pressure drops.
And yea 47-48gr seems like a good node for a lot of folks.
Im going to run 47gr under the 175 for this weekends 600yd midrange match. I was running a little over 2600 fps with the 168 amax last time so this load should be quite a bit better if it gets windy.

So with the Alliant being not as temperature sensitive but not quite as accurate as IMR4064, if both were readily available, which would get the nod?

I bought 10 lbs. of this stuff a month back since it was the only powder I could find in stock that is remotely suitable for .223, and I was prepping to load up a few thousand rounds.
Then I started reading about how great this powder is behind 175 SMKs (I'm sitting on a few thousand and haven't settled on a load yet) so I finished off the Ramshot Tac, AA2015, and AR-Comp powders I had sitting around loading up the 55 gr FMJBTs.
It's supposed to be pretty nice this weekend, so maybe I will run an OCW on Sunday.

*edit* My Lee's 12th edition has no data for 2000-MR and the "recipe" recommendations from Alliant's website are not very helpful.
From reading here it looks like 48 gr is near max for the 175 SMK, so I'm thinking my OCW should run from 45.5 to 48.5... any thoughts?

Hard to say. I am shooting an f-t/r match tomorrow with 175 smks / 2000mr (2700 fps) so I will see how it works out.
2000mr is highly suitable for the 69-80gr bullets in 223.
Id try 46.5-48.5. 45.5 is very light. But hey if you have the time go for it.

I have been using I4895 for Hornady 75 HPBTs and 77 SMKs, but accuracy comes at the cost of velocity, so I should try out some 2000-MR there, too.
You are probably right, even if I found a node down that low for the 175s, I most likely wouldn't want to use it.
