Yep, last time I checked. the rifle didn't make the Sniper; nevertheless if you want to have some bells and whistle on your rifle, then pick some useful ones such as a cant indicator (aka anti-cant device) and an angle cosine indicator (aka angle degree indicator, btw you will eventually have to learn how to use it).
For others, a "cool" rifle is a very accurate rifle. A "Tacticool" rifle that would miss a cow at 100 yards is good for nothing, except looking good on a wall.
This doesn't seem to apply to your rifle, as it looks like you are going at it the right way and it should be a shooter. Post some of your results once it is back from the smith.
Have fun with it and good shooting.

That is a nice rifle. I agree, learn to shoot. I did the same thing with my first tactical bolt action. Bought it based on looks, no idea how it shot because I wanted a "sniper rifle". Its a learning experience, i couldnt shoot worth shit with it because it wasnt really put together right for ME personally. Traded it for a motorcycle, and now my current rifle is perfect. Call it what ever you want, technically any rifle can be a sniper rifle and many have been, in the line of duty/combat. However the snipers that I know personally rip my head off when I say "sniper rifle," because to have a sniper rifle you must be a sniper. I like the .308, for me its the perfect round. Not sure if that is what you got, but the important thing is that now that the easy part is over "you got the rifle," the hard part begins, learning to shoot the thing. Great looking rifle and hope she is a fine shooter.

Nice looking rifle. Looking forward to seeing what you and it can do. I'm new to Precision shooting myself.

On a side note, as an outside observer who reads tons, posts little here because I'm learning, and loves this site. I do find it interesting that a forum called "Sniper's Hide" gets so worked up when a newbie calls it a "sniper rifle."

I think for many of the newbies are referring to their rifles that way because to them it is the type of equipment that would fit that role. A sniper will choose a different rifle configuration than a hunter or a bench rest shooter because of their needs.

Millersteve - keep an open mind, read lots, and you'll learn tons here. It also helps to have a tough skin. Great group of people here and lots of spot on info.
