Hi All,
I am probably going to get flamed for this as a first post, but I am going to go for it...
I have a CZ 550 Magnum action lying around that I have been considering rebarreling/rechambering. The action is HUGE as far as sporting rifle/non-custom actions goes, and I am fairly sure it could accomodate a catridge like the 375/408 CT as one of the factory chamberings of the rifles is 505 gibbs (CT parent case as everyone here knows).
The shortcoming of this that I can see is that:
1) action/lugs are not "really" strong enough for the bolt thrust associated with the higher pressure CT catridges and large bolt face.
2) action may not be large/rigid enough for sufficient accuracy (although I found it to be very accurate in its original 458 lott chambering)
3) magazine length (max length of ~3.85"?) is insufficient for the CT COAL when loaded with VLD bullets, so it would be single shot.
I have a hunch this isn't my finest idea and that 338 LM would be a better choice as the action would swallow it with ease and have room for 5 rounds in the mag. I couldn't resist kicking the idea around though...
