Rifle Scopes Alternative to Nightforce NXS??

Thanks for all of your comments. I ended up ordering a discontinued NF SHV 3-10x42 ( model with parallax adjustment) that I found as a new demo model. Supposed to be here next week. A day after I ordered it a guy contacted me that he had an nxs to sell...perfect timing! I have the 3-10 shv with illumination on my coyote rifle and I really like. I don't dial much when I hunt ( most shots within 200 yards and only long range on steel) so I think the shv will be fine but we shall see.

The other thing I do for the quick shots...which I most generally only do with Whitetails or coyotes...I have my 280Ackley (140 gr Berger VLD leaving at 3225 fps) zeroed at 272 yards. This gives me 3" high at 150 yards and 3" low at 317 yards. Makes for a very quick shot at the ranges I usually find whitetail deer here in Idaho. That one has a Swaro scope on it with (I think) the BRH reticle. I have verified where the yards are according to the reticle line and have that written on a card that is attached to the sling near the front swivel.

I keep my 300 WM (2 different rifles, chambered by the same guy with the same reamer) zeroed at 100 and dial or holdover. I use one to kill everything from whistle pigs to moose. The other only shoots paper, steel and rocks. I dial those. The SHV is on a .223AI zeroed at 100 and I dial it. I have only put 200 rounds through it so far, including fire forming, but it's extremely accurate. I can repeatedly hit a 1.5" gong at 550 yards with an 80 gr Berger VLD leaving at something like 2740 fps with the fire formed brass.

I have been seriously considering a Nightforce NXS 2-10x42 but just wanting to make sure that there's not something out there that I might like better in the same price range ($1000- $2000). Prefer 10x or 12x on the top end and won't exceed 15X. Want an MOA reticle. Dial turrets ok but not required as long as the capped turrets track well as I would uncap them and dial with them when target shooting.

I'm familiar with Vortex and Leupold but wondering if there is a brand out there that I may be overlooking.
See if you can find a used ATACR in 4x16 42 or 50. They come in MOA now.

Update: I received the NF SHV 3-10x42 with MOAR reticle & adjustable parallax a few days ago. I'm waiting on a stock so haven't put it on a rifle yet but like what I see so far. Super clear glass. I'm not sure why they discontinued this model as the parallax adjustment is nice for focus ( even if you didn't need the parallax adjustments). It may be wishful thinking as I didn't get to compare them side by side but it seems like this scope is clearer than my leupold vx 6 was. If that is the case, that is a good deal considering the SHV was half the price. My brother has a SHV 4-14x 56 that he dials on steel out to 1200 yards and he says it tracks well. I designed a home made zero ( rotation) stop for it so he knows when he is back to the zero rotation.

The SHV seems like a very good option for hunting. Take off the cap when you need to dial but use the reticle for wind holds or quick shots and it's not going to get bumped off zero accidentally when capped. Yes, you only get about half the dial distance per rotation compared to an nxs but at my 'normal' hunting ranges, you aren't going to be dialing much above 20 moa anyway... Just my two cents. Your mileage my vary.
