Well, I didn't think anything on the Internet would stay in place after nearly 12 years.
Today, I proceeded to clean out a closet that had a bunch of random stuff in it. My goal was to make room for spare brass, miscellaneous parts, etc. I found an old shoe box with some things in it from the college days, one of which was a 1.44MB floppy disk marked "Backup 11-22-02" on it. Yes, a floppy... That was the go-to media back then.
I was interested to see what I had put on this floppy nearly 10 years ago obviously, so I pulled out my USB floppy disk drive and started browsing through the contents. I found a text file with a ton of old usernames and passwords that I had saved (rather than writing down) years ago. Amazingly, my long lost original snipershide.com username and password was in there, so I figured I'd give it a try and see if it worked. (I had created another account after this one was "lost"). To my amazement, it worked! I vaguely remember signing up back in the early 2000's... This just all seems really nostalgic to me. Those were the days... AOL dial-up, ha!
Some might say what's the big deal here and they would have a point, but it's still interesting to me that this "data" was sitting in my closet for nearly 12 years and still lingered on a server somewhere waiting to be accessed again. 12 years is a millennium in terms of the "Internet".
Now that I'll be using this account, I'd say that quite possibly I'd be the oldest (now) active members that has the lowest post count ever!
Anyway, I guess welcome this username back from the dead!
