Considering changing out the safety selector on my rock river ar 15. There are just so many to choose from, not sure where to start. Could I get some suggestions please? And is this an easy drop-in procedure? Thx.

I use Knights Armament ambi-safety on my rifles. They provide three selectors for the lefty (full lever, scalloped lever, and a position indicator only). I like the scalloped selector. I found that it doesn’t catch on my right palm like some of the larger selectors out there.

have also heard nothing but good things about Battle Arms Development ambi-safeties.

I bought another brand years ago that had a male dovetail cut on the ambi-knob you slid into the selector’s female dovetail and it was essentially held in place by a detent ball/spring. Fell apart on me during a training course on my truck tailgate. I can’t remember what brand it was or find it at Brownells now. Regardless, stay clear if you find one designed like that. The dovetail rounded off and was not machined well enough to be trustworthy. Buy one that uses a torx head screw to hold the ambi-lever in place with good pre-applied industrial locktite on the tip of the machine screw.

As a lefty I have tried a few and the Battle Arms short and long throw (BAD-ASS) are in fact quite bad ass. The Raptor plastic ones are also quite good and configurable in the 4-pack but the plastic material does cause me to question their suitability for hard use.
