Only in the Garden State!

Re: Ambulance abuse

You would be amazed at how often this stuff happens. Frequent Flyers and jailitis victims get transported all the time for BS reasons. This guy at least created an injury with his face plants.

My Son is a paramedic and was called out to a place called Sand Mountain east of Fallon. The guy had a head injury and by Nev. Law I guess they were required to transport him. The guy started fighting and refusing to go and things started to get ugly and a crowd gathered. A Sheriff showed up on scene and had to pull his weapon, thats how intense it was getting.

Re: Ambulance abuse

This crap happens every day! We have people looking for a free ride, wanting attention, or just lazy. Just recently, one of our frequent fliers (lady that calls all the time) call us out at 3 in the morning to help her look for her car keys " she lost while on a walk". She has also called us to get her food for her from her kitchen while she sat 8 feet away in a chair! You might wonder why we would respond, well she knows what to say to the dispatchers to get us rolling. i.e. difficulty breathing, chest pains, etc. Total B.S.!!!

Re: Ambulance abuse

One of my friends, years ago, worked "Ambulance Attendant" for a company in a northern town. It was about 45 minutes south of a Reserve.

There were some there, who'd feed their infant drano or bleach on purpose, so that they could get a "free ride" to the big city for the weekend.

After that and many other stories of what the job was like, from him and others, I definitely changed my perspective on "certain things".

I wasn't quite driving at the idea of "certain things," just at extreme inebriation and someone with no sense of balance left whatsoever.

Re: Ambulance abuse

Amen E22, one of the better ones I've ever heard was when EMS was giving me(in the ER) their pt. report via radio and I heard the pt. in the background tell the medic to "be sure and let them(the ER staff) know she was going to need a cab voucher to get home." All ready asking for a free ride home and she was still 5 min. out from our facility. And people wonder why we refer to that part of town as "Hoodhill."(anyone familiar with Lexington knows where I'm talking about)

To all of you out there in Fire/EMS/ER Nursing, be safe...

Re: Ambulance abuse

EMS did nothing wrong, oversight by officer, they decided not to hold him to avoid medical arrest excess paper work. Gave him a free ride down to the hospital.

Isn't there some sort of law against this? It seems to me this falls in line with prank calling 911. Deffinately abuse.
