Rifle Scopes American Rifle Company 35mm rings or USO/seekins ?

Re: American Rifle Company 35mm rings or USO/seekins ?

Seekins Rings are outstanding and have withstood the test of time and use.

ARC rings are new and a unique design, very well made, and they may well prove there worth. But they are not soup yet.

YMMV and IMHO

Thanks Bob,

As much as Id like to buy a set of USO rings #1 there a lot more $ than Seekins and #2 Im not sure you need /want that funky wind adjustment.....is that a PIA to set up properly ?

Re: American Rifle Company 35mm rings or USO/seekins ?

USO or Badger are the only way to go. USO's are a little more however their fit and finish is excellent. They're not a PITA to set up if you know what you're doing and if you do it right, you only have to do it once.

But if it were me, I would only buy USO or Badger.

Re: American Rifle Company 35mm rings or USO/seekins ?

I have a few sets of badgers, seekins, USO, nightforce and ARC.

I have to say the ARC are a step above the rest. It's really not hard for me to say that. The materials are better, lighter, stronger and the clamp design does not pinch the tube whatsoever. The fit and finish are excellent.

The ARC rings are interesting, never run them on one of my rigs but seen a few and got to FF them.

I have to stick with what I know works and what has been proven over the years in many different conditions.

USO and Badger.

Re: American Rifle Company 35mm rings or USO/seekins ?

ARC make rings in 35mm. In fact they go up to 40mm.

They are a much more sophisticated design in that they actually do everything they set out to do rather than yet another iteration of the same design that's been around since the beginning.

They offer the greatest grip of your scope for the lowest level of torque. They absolutely will not mark, mar or damage your scope. They help compensate for out of spec rail through their rail interface crowns, they are very light, very strong and machined and anodized to an uncommonly high standard.

Re: American Rifle Company 35mm rings or USO/seekins ?

I had a set of ARC on my NightForce scope and they worked great. Took the scope out of the rings on 2 seperate occasions and there were no marks.

Running a 7/300wsm remmy 700. Its not a big caliber but for what its worth I never had them ever shift or work lose and I didn't mount them using Loctite.

I have a set of 35mm ARC coming with my Razor I just ordered. Thats how impressed I was with the rings. JMHO

Hope this helps.

+1. I saw these at SHOT and decided to give tem a try. They are very lightweight yet very stout. Great design and only require two bolts per ring.

As for the USO's, the only thing I don't like is the windage adjustable base. For one, I don't see a need for it and it seems like it would be entirely possible to add "windage torque" to you scope tube if you don't adjust the base just right. I had a set of their old hinged rings and didn't like the fact that they didn't have a crossbar on the bottom, instead it used a set screw...weird.

I also have a few sets of Badgers and interestingly enough, a Badger was the only ring that ever broke. I the clamp piece on one of my Badgers snapped in half. I thought the material looked defective (it had horizontal striations) and when I let Marty know, he basically acted like I had no idea what I was talking about and spoke to me with a huge air of arrogance (like how dare I question his quality)....well sure enough, it broke. I think Marty ate some humble pie when he had to replace it but of course, made no reference to our previous conversation. That whole incident left a bad taste in my mouth.

As a "lurking shadow" I am pleased to perhaps make a small contribution to this excellent forum/ source of info/gen.
EventHorizon has it in a nutshell. These ARC rings are the "Ducks Guts". Materials, engineering and craftsmanship par excellence!
Very low profile for the higher tactical turrets.
The boss Ted is also a real gent/ professional to deal with.

Re: American Rifle Company 35mm rings or USO/seekins ?

I just purchased a set of 34 MM ARC rings. He does make 35MM rings in multiple heights. I ordered direct from the company and also enjoyed talking to the owner. You will be very happy with the ARC rings. They feature a very clever design with great execution. Given the nature of our disease you will appreciate the lack of ring marks on your scope.

I personally will not buy any other style of ring unless I need a Larue extended mount.

Try the ARC rings they're lower profile, look better, protect your scope and represent an improvement over the old design paradigm.
