So, I was perusing ammoseek.com as semi-entertainment. (yeah, I'm bored). I guess what got me looking was Brownells had some 6mm ARC last week and even though I don't even own an ARC I toyed with buying it. Gone. So is most of the other supply.

After looking at all sort of obscure rounds, some of which I'm not even familiar with, I have come to the conclusion that the "metallic" ammo supply is about 5% of what it was in February, maybe less. Obviously this isn't news to me; but what would be very interesting to know is the dispersal of these rounds. Are a majority rounds bought by people who prepare or is this a general grab. I'd think most "general" people don't buy off the web but bend over at their local dealer who generally is not-competitive (exceptions to that rule, but in general). Say old lady Jane down the street, has she bought more than her usual share? What about Bob next door? Actually the older woman in my AO says she buys a box of 38 every time she steps into Walmart (or did). Not a bad way to do it.

I'm hoping it's a flattened curve and it's just not Army Jerry who made it all go away. Why one may ask; because that would mean a LOT of people know what's at stake in November and have seen the coup attempt and the revolutionary wing of the marxist-democrat party at work.

I never thought I'd see 22 short for like $0.25+ a round

Im told by a semi reliable source that a lot of the shortage is due to production slow downs due to the Chinese viral attack on the world.

Fuck the ChiComs..

I think it is both.

OG hoarders still buying especially when the price is decent. Like the $25 140eld a few weeks ago.

Plus you have a ton of communists and those in the middle buying guns for the first time. People that had zero interest in firearms before the Burn Loot and murder etc. piles of these people out there

Well, just keep asking around about "ammo". See if you can find a logical person with verifiable information that will say "It's going to get better".... In fact, ask if there will be anything additional coming down the supply chain.... food, meds, fuel, spare parts, etc. Big box stores are running sale ads and they don't even have the items on the shelf. Remain calm.

Remember, I'm observing this from the "really folks...." standpoint ;). At some point, I imagine storage becomes an issue even for "hoarders" because unlike one neighbor down the street (passed a few years ago), I won't store any ammo other than skeet shotgun shells in the garage - and the only reason those are there...because they were some very early Rios that had some shit construction where the plastic met the brass. If they fail to ignite..so be it.

I am surprised two of my neighbors that I know believe in 2A were totally oblivious to the price going through the roof and lack of availability. Kinda shocking to me. I'm now trying to find neighbors who want to go to range. If need be, I'll even "loan" a box of ammo. I'd rather have neighbors who are not learning everything on the fly.

Granted, the other neighbor (non 2A supporter....actually non-COTUS person) is yelling and screaming because Mike Leach (miss st) said masks were to serve the politicians....they had a meltdown over that...because.....they're libtards and they still won't buy groceries!!!!!!!!!!

I'll say this, if Trump wins, I'll be relieved not only on ammo supply but the willingness to put some money into my house for upgrades. Until then...I'm holding tight.

i went to the local ammo store, which is not a gun store and isn't particularly local, but wtf i needed to charge the car battery anyway...
i had talked to the owner recently and although he is selling everything he can get, he can barely get enough to sell to stay afloat.
they only sell ammo, knives and some cleaning stuff, mags and bags...no firearms. family owned.
anyway, expecting high prices, i was still shocked at the price of serbian ppu (7.62x51mm), which i had bought from them for about 1/2 the price last year.
i still bought some even though i don't "need" it, because i don't want them to go out of business, and i bought a silicone gun and reel cloth and a kershaw knife (scallion).
trying to contribute to the recovery ;)

my local costco happened to have .50 cal/.30 cal ammo cans for 13.99. the .30 cal are perfect for fgmm.

Yeah. I definitely think it was because of slowdowns because of Covid. But I also think long time gun owners are stocking up for this election and then you can’t forget the new gun owners. They don’t know better and will pay almost any price for ammo so the companies can jack the prices up.

Let’s do math

400,000,000guns in the US

the us normally shoots 6-8 billion rounds a year

Maybe 1/5 own guns so 60-70 million gun owners
Let’s say 65,000,000

if each gun owner buys 100 rounds
=
6,500,000 rounds or about the normal we buy all year

most people are buying way more than 100 rounds

If we don’t have a civil war... and the election is not rigged, 2021 will be a horrible year for gun shops. Everyone will be paying off credit cards and not shooting their $50 box of Winchester white box 9mm.

many 1st time panic buyers might sell guns too.

I was talking with my dad the other night and he asked me where he could buy ammo. I almost dropped the phone because I couldn’t stop laughing. Once I recovered, I told him he could buy some in about 6-8 months and to use ammoseek.

""production lines are operating 24/7 right now. That’s an indication that supply chain problems with ammunition components may be easing, allowing the manufacturing facilities to work at full capacity instead of being limited by the amount of raw materials that they can get their hands on.

The problem right now seems to be a simple matter of supply not being able to keep up with demand, and it’s good to see manufacturers being proactive in addressing the problem by increasing supply rather than waiting for demand to subside.""

Yeah, just last night I saw 1000 rounds of 62 grain green tip for $799.00. Still double but at least its available.

I grabbed some heavy .223 this morning, prices for that manufacturer really hadn’t changed since pre-idiot stage.

That being said, I lost all faith in intelligence when I saw this yesterday.

Yeah, I jumped on the 140eld 3 weeks ago for 400rds. Didnt really need it but at 24.99/box, seemed pretty decent. Plus free shipping was a no-brainer.

Decent deals go in the matter of mins/ hours so you really have to watch and sign up for notifications. I got a notification from one online store that green/white remington 115gr 9mm was in stock at 39.99 box. Was about 45 mins later I checked it was all gone...at 39.99....crazy!

Having problems with 3006 168gr GMM though.

Once very plentiful is now harder to find and much more expensive.

I bet @pmclaine is set up nice with all that cheap GMM he was in on... :)

I almost jumped on that. I jumped on some 143 about the same time.

Wow, this F-wad, reminds me of my early days as a C.O.. We had a dude get booked-in with damn near the same amount of metal in his face/body. He had to stay in Seg. and after two trips to the hospital, to get it all removed, before he could be reclassified for Gen. Pop.
What the F is with people?? I've got Tats, but...... Mac

Quit being so discriminatory. Good grief🤪🤪🤪

I really wonder what job somebody could have looking like that. At some point they have to interface with society, but most folks would run off screaming looking at that.

I had to hit Scheels for a return this weekend.
They had 50rd boxes of Fiocchi 223 40gr for $23.
I took the limit of 200 rds since the price was Close to pre panic and it shoots tight enough for hunting in most of my rifles.
Didn’t need it but ole well, it keeps fine and probably won’t get cheaper.
The powder was about all gone though. I saw an 8lb jug of Varget and instantly got Wood, only to find out it was a display jug and out of stock lol.
They had bullets, but higher than normal price.

missing a couple zeros there bud

I bought a 270 and a 300 Win Mag recently because that's what all the stores have in stock around me. And also because... why not.

If you care to know:
- Tikka Ultralite Stainless - 270 Rem
- Montana Rifle Company American Standard - 300 Win Mag

Yes I know MRC is defunct right now. But... I quickly (because the range is FULL pre-hunting season and I'm not an ass) zeroed it at 100 yards achieving consistent .75 MOA with Corelokt, so... it's fine for me. The Tikka... my lord is it incredible. It's my first one. As far as I'm concerned, if I'm getting a polymer stock rifle hence forth it's a Tikka. I may even look at their wood stocks, although... bit expensive, IMO. But I digress...

What I need is match ammo. I actually drove to Walmarts all around Atlanta and bought up enough Federal 168 gr 308 Win for my upcoming K&M long range course. I did two PRS matches prior and consumed the only match ammo I had for my 6.5CM and because they let us use the 1000 yard range after, I spent a bunch of the Federal 175 gr 308 Win that I had doping my 308 chassis setup. Naturally, 175 gr Federal is impossible to find unless it's $43 a box, haha.

Actually, from my teachings, people do shit like that, because, they are "anti-social". One has to wonder why someone, that goes to that "extreme", why they can't make bank on a lucrative job interview, but, can only get menial jobs, like, Tat shops, smoke shops, etc.. You would think the light would come on. I've got tats, but, as long as I don't wear a tank or wife beater shirt, I can dress for success and apply for anything I'm qualified for. I'm not against anyone, doing anything, to their body, but........ Mac

How much do you think a good tattoo artist makes in a nice size city? I’m a tattoo artist. We do pretty well close to 6 figures of not over. And if you own a good shop. 250k-500k/yr. not bad bad for menial workers. I will say dudes like that are maybe a bit extreme but they aren’t the normal in tattoo circles. In fact they are hard to find these days all over. I also seriously doubt he gives a fuck about a job any of you would want. Or any job for any of us for that matter. Nor does he complain about not being gainfully employed, he doesn’t care. In fact you might share a lot of the same world views with a guy like that. For the most part heavily modified fellas have small government conservative views. Also for you folks not wanting you “tats” to show I seriously doubt that’s ever really going to come up in your life If you don’t wear a suit and tie everyday. And if you do, it doesn’t matter. Saying dumb shit like “I have to look professional” no one gives a fuck that your forearm is “tatted” when you sell them the used kia’s you peddle. It’s 2020. People don’t care.

Quit calling them tats..... it either make you sound like retarded gang banger or a grandma trying to relate to her grandkids.

The same ideology you promote is the same one we have about tats. People don't care if 'tats' is no longer PC for tattoos in the inky world. We're getting bombarded about just being white and loving our country..

Maybe you should form an organization for tattoo'd people and bring it to the public's attention, Inky Lives Matter, telling people how the word 'tat' is now offensive to a fat woman with a shaved head, a bone through their nose and a tattoo of a centipede crawling up their neck.

Hey, Nimothy, I'm just busting your balls here.
You have to take the good with the bad, tell us about the good.
I have seen some 'tattoos' on some beautiful women on their boobs and vagins and envied the tattoo artist with ear gauges and covered with 'tattoos' who worked intently to put it there. I'm sure you have some interesting stories. Lets hear 'em

I have a sleeve and I think it helps more than it hurts. When clients seem guarded during meetings I’ll take off my jacket and roll up my sleeves. All of a sudden they’ll relax. IMO, when a guys decked out to the 9’s all the time he usually has no idea what he’s doing. Even the old guys dress down now.

Whoa dude, relax, I wasn't trying to be a dick. I DO get it, to each his own. BUT... You show up for a job interview looking like that( the individual pictured) and welll, people of certain classes of society will give you the "stink eye". Sorry if I hurt your feelings, I'm really one that doesn't usually give a F about feels. I'm at that age in my life, where I have no F's to give. OH and by the way, my tats were inked many years ago, by backroom artists(two in my Military days and one in my CO days) not the highly sought after "Inkers" of today. I've got two kids that have arm and leg sleeves, plus shit on their shoulders. My kids have more money inked into their skins, than I have in a couple of guns I own, added together. Again, sorry that I butt hurt you, not my intention, and by the way, I don't sell F'n Kia's either. Mac;)
eta: Good on you for making bank, maybe, you can hook me up with a sharp, colorful, stand-out tat, oh shit, my wife just corrected me... Body Art, as long as you use a new needle, in that gun of yours, I'm game.

Someone is always offended. It's the new norm to shout it out when offended instead of walking away.
