I know any two examples of a particular barrel, either factory or custom, will vary as far a muzzle velocity goes for the same load. Will Standard Deviation (SD) and Extream Spread (ES) vary as well among two examples of the same barrel? What's got me thinking about this is, a buddy and I were chronographing some Hornady ELDM 140's and we were getting different velocities as you'd expect but we were also getting different SD and ES. He was shooting a DT with a factory barrel and I was shooting an RPR with an LRI barrel on it. The ES and SD on my barrel was better while the velocity on his barrel was higher as you'd expect with a 26" vs 24".

Thanks in advance!

No two barrels are identical. Some may be close but you can have two barrels from the same maker and chambered by the same smith and they can be different for numbers. Not something to worry about but just know it.

Have you seen different SD & ES with the same load on two examples of the same barrel?

Two Bartleins with different numbers. It's going to happen. Nothing to worry about or even think about. Each barrel should be looked at as unique.

Small variances in manufacturing, lapping, machining etc can easily do it. Keep looking but there are better things to spend your brain power on in this sport. ;)
