am i missing/not seeing something? i usaully buy from sg ammo or outdoor limited. today instead of multiple pages for common/popular calibers,there is little or nothing available. looked other places as well. 5.56 is gone,22lr is about as scarce as during the last 22 panic,308/7.62 is about dry,9mm gone,38 still around but not as much variety. i looked other sites and same story. don't know about popular calibers i don't shoot-30/06,300 mag,7 mag,243,45 acp,357 but i bet same deal. is it just me or what? this is looking like worse than the most recent obama panic. on line there were 100s of boxes/cases of stuff around at friendly prices. i can't believe multiple 1000s & 1000s of 5.56 etc is bought out in last 2-4 weeks. 6.5 cm is thinner and prices up about 20% or so.glad i left 6cm quickly. anybody got a clue?

basspro ran 223 62gr steel tips sunday for $320 with free shipping. They still have 55gr FMJ for $289. so there's still plenty around at a reasonable price
i'm not seeing stuff,at least in my usual scources. 5 or 6 items,usually things nobody wants normally. but not the usual 2 pages of stuff.

Yeah, you're missing what is probably the largest ammo and gun run in recorded history. Don't expect ammo to be readily available again for a year.

This crisis, hysteria, fear of the unknown, etc. has driven many people to start buying and hoarding many things. I'm reading Canada is also going though an ammo buying frenzy. Australia is seeing a 400% increase in solar panels sales, and the last couple days I've been trying to find a certain book on homesteading, and can't help but notice just about every "hard copy" book on Bushcraft, Prepping, Survival, SHTF, TEOTWAWKI, etc. is out of stock and/or backordered.
I'm glad I have purchased many a thing before this crisis, as I believe this will just be the tip of the iceberg, as even as the virus faded, if people still have funds, they will continue to buy things for the next ---- fill in the blank.

For any other cavemen here that still shoot .308, Target Sports has FGMM 185 Berger for $21.99 per box. Yeah, the price is just sort of average, but it's shown as being in stock, and it's currently cheaper than FGMM 175. Got a case on the way... eventually. 
I guess all these new "users" should have bought a shotgun rather than a pistol or rifle..... Note: They are now called "user's".... Rather than gun owners... LOL

Capitalism at it's finest. Not like overcharging for milk and eggs - so called essential items. Sure to us, lead, powder, primers and brass are essential...but.... no law against that...just long memories...here's looking at you Cheaper than Dung.
If you ask me there's no such thing as price gouging that was a term (like assault weapons) created by socialists to demonize any retailers who raise their prices to market value when supply and demand caused price increases. It's simple enough with certain retailers who are asking well more than market value or did things like cancel orders so they can relist those products after significant markups we'll remember who you are and just won't be buying from you in the future or my case I haven't bought from CTD since 2013. Otherwise the increased prices reflect the increased market value of supply and demand and it's just capitalism as it should be. Hard to feel sorry for anyone who didn't decide to buy a condom until their fk buddy said "I'm pregnant" especially when we've had such low prices for nearly 4 years.
I agree to a certain extent. Supply and demand prices I agree with but companies like cheaper than dirt that increase their prices 200% more than their competitors are price gouging. All ammo has gone up but some places it’s $.05 per round and some are $.30 per round of 9mm. That’s a huge disparity. People who frequently buy ammo will avoid those sites/places but the new gun owners don’t know better and will get a bad perception...

Just because it pisses you off doesn't mean you adopt a socialist perspective. The term "price gouging" is a socialist label to something that represents socialist ideology and a deeper meaning than the terms face value. Just like other socialist terms have a deeper meaning that signifies socialist beliefs of those that use them for example using the term "assualt weapon" signifies that the one is anti gun or the term "privileged" signifies other commie beliefs. Using the term "price gouging" signifies or would lead others to believe that a person is for the government mandating prices of items which is commie crap. In other words if it pisses you off that CTD is overcharging pick a different term to describe it. CTD owns their business and is free to charge whatever the hell they want it's not price gouging because we're free to shop elsewhere permanently no ones forcing us to buy from them. We don't need to bring the government into the situation.

After a hurricane struck the east coast years ago, my pre teen daughter read a news article discussing how bottled water was being sold at such high prices and she thought she agreed with the article's author that was "price gouging" that should be curtailed. I pointed out that the increased market value gave incentive to entrepreneurs to load up their vehicles with inexpensive water and move it to the areas of high demand, much more efficiently than Government could do. It was very gratifying to see the light bulb come on behind those young eyes and it's something that has been remembered and commented on whenever we read of natural disasters.
Ammunition, and other arms related goods, are commodities whose cost/value and supply/demand ratios are governed by the overall ratio of pleasure/discontent.

pretty amazing the federal subsonic 40g 22lr popped up and i grabbed 2k.....they sold 99 cases of 5k and 99 boxes of 500 in under 10 minutes. Stock levels always say 99+ so they may have had even more, but realtime from alert to all gone was 10 flat unreal.
No shortage from where I'm sitting. Of course, I'm sitting on 200K rounds. ;-) And that's not even the cannon shells.
I think the shortage is due to ArmyJerry, though. He bought it all years ago.

While I occasionally find myself perusing the ammunition seller sites, and note with mild alarm that my pulse rate may (or may not) increase during such times; I have resisted the urge to buy ammo since quite some time before Jerry's exit.
Simply put I have enough, and that's not a big bunch.
I have no Ramboesque illusions, or plans to be an arsenal for a free neighborhood. I am a recreational shooter, and my supplies are governed by that type of need.
Yes, I have some means of home defense, but seriously doubt that any such activity would involve a protracted firefight. Loading one's person up to a degree that hampers movement is, IMHO, counterproductive. Then, if I'm still alive and out of ammo, I'm still way, way ahead of any other denizen of my local neighborhood.
Reality can be a rude awakening; hopefully moreso for many others besides myself.
Enough actually is..., enough.
My Wife is actually very good at reminding me when my recreational activities start crossing over into the realm of hoarding. She's nice about it, and the reminder helps snap my imagination back to reality.
My one exception; my Garand. I keep a modest backlog of M-2 ball Equivalent handloads in En-bloc clips; so I can always just grab old 'Georgie P', a box of rounds, and head out to the range.
Incidentally, my lawn (if it's greeen, it' a weed...) consists of gravel; and I get along fine enough with the neighbor kids...

I make more. I have a modest supply of consumable components. It's an integral part of my recreational activity.
As for 'years', I'm 74. For when that becomes prohibitive; the Grandkids live with us and know reloading.

Reloading is fine, until all of that supply is bought up as well. I have had a hard time finding what i need to reload, i am sure others do as well. Good luck finding small pistol primers... and even when times were good, i struggled to find popular rifle powders for long range.
If you think it's bad now, wait to see what it will be like if the elections go the wrong way in a big way.

Found Federal small rifle primers yesterday. Limited to 1000. Retailer had five on the shelve. Had large rifle magnum (few) and some shot shell primers but nothing more. I also picked up the last pound container of CFE Pistol and CFE Rifle powder they had. Now, how to find small pistol primers...
My local had spp limit 2k per person. I don’t even reload pistol yet, but damn it if I won’t now!
Last last summer, out of now where my neighbor asked me if I was interested in his Dillon 650 press. He had it for a few years and was not shooting or reloading much as he had started a family. He offered it at less than half of what a new one and all the extras would have cost me. Because ammo was so cheap I have not been in a rush to start reloading and have not actually got it set up. At the moment, I'm buying components and will get the hardware I need to start. Should have done this while things were available and cheap. Have been collecting brass though. Won't make that mistake again.
