So I like creating stuff, like the video with the aliens in it.

I always appreciated the classes in the USMC on surveillance and such that lead to more still images which lead to video.

camera stuff comes and goes, and it’s not always bad, it’s still capable stuff, just outdated.

I have a bunch of it, most of the stuff has everything but some might need a charger or whatnot. Since the holidays are coming, I thought I would clean out some of my camera stuff and provide a list, I want the stuff to go to kids.

I figure 8-12 at a minimum if you have a child interested in media, I will give up my out dated equipment, and everything I will make sure it will get the going, will all function. Once I know exactly what I have I just wanted to check the temperature of the group.

does anyone have kids leaning towards the creative side ? Who would make use of an older camera ?

    Good on you boss.

Got devil spawn around here that go through apple pencil tips like candy but no problems keeping them fed.

Maybe there is a local charter school near you (non indoctrination type) with a media dept. that could use some help.

That's a good idea. I remember the schools having a newspaper and media department and they used all donated gear. They actually printed a news paper every month. I guess with the times though they might not do that with everything being digital.

Bravo, I suggest some schools on Military bases, our VFW has a teacher who teaches on a local base.

But..., some of the Admin Types can be dicks... Approach with caution...

Excellent idea, and opportunity. From my end, I'd nominate "Wyatt" and his next youngest brother. We're just finishing up a GGWG collection for Wyatt, and his next youngest brother "Warrick" is the "Artiste" of the family. He loves creating and inventing and whatnot.

Perfect timing, I must say. Good on ya!

I like the idea of local, but at the same time, this is easier, less leg work and this community supports me more so than my local

I may only have like 3 or 4 different variations on cameras, like 2 still, one with video, and then like 2 video cinema type cameras, that will work

And I may have an interface or two if someone wants to do a podcast style thing

I have a 12yo niece that has decided she wants to make a Tim Burton Nightmare before Christmas style movie with her friends. She is currently working on figuring out stop action animation (taking stills and stringing them together to make a video like old cartoons were). If any equipment has this capability I could find it a good home and make a little girls Christmas.

    What a generous offer!

My daughter is outside the age range however I have a 7yo who just finished a basic coding class and loves taking pictures and short videos of nature and her younger sister. Would be interested if she's not too young.

Excellent idea! Glad to hear she is working on animations.
The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favourite holiday movies.

The Corpse Bride, done by the same guy in the same style was pretty good also.

Had a go at stop motion years ago at school, incredibly work intensive and fiddly, but so satisfying to see the results.

My little guy loves all that. Here he is on the grassy knoll with my ol’ man.
But I’m in Canada. Probably easier to get to someone in the US.

The free equip challenge. What ever kids makes the best phone videos explaining why you should give it to them.

Should be some funny stuff that will take you to two million.

My youngest son is 14 and he enjoys taking pictures and videos with his phone. I was thinking about getting him a, “starter” camera for Christmas but have no idea where to start.

mars attacks .. Santa attacks oh the horror of elves (even plush toys can be menacing in black and white ) .... saw a kid doing south park style paper cut out movies sort of like the old Clay animation having to set the scene and take hundreds of shots just to make the motion in the end it turned out pretty neat good luck to you and your son it should be fun .
