Looking for the best scope I can find under $250. I just don't shoot 22 much, but I fell in love with this Annie and got a sweet deal on it. What scope & rings could I put on it to keep the scope height reasonable? The stock on this rifle is set up to use the irons, so I don't want it very high at all.

Willing to consider anything, but not a big Leupold fan. Mine haven't tracked well in the past and I don't care for the optics in them. My perfect solution would be a way to mount an SWFA 3-15 SFP really low. I have one of those on my target 10/22 and I like it a lot for the price.

Oops. Did not realize the SWFA 3-15 SFP was out of the price range you specified.... Perhaps a Vortex or Athlon and a set of Med 11 mm rings - for whatever tube diameter you end up with.. You might look in the Scope Forum here....or just go to Midway and look to see whats in your price range and narrow your search accordingly.

I'd be open to an SWFA 3-15 if I knew it would fit with low rings and be useable with the low comb on the factory stock.

What kind of rings are folks using on these?

From 6.89 Chinese knockoff to 300.00 (you name it) rings. I spent 50.00 on my Vortex rings and find them totally satisfactory.

Buy a 10.00 set of lows and mediums and then when you get your cheek weld and your height correct invest in a decent set. Also look at strapon little cheek pads to fit your rifle. Generic cheek pads are under 30.00 all over ebay and amazon.

I've got spare triad tactical cheek pads - just hate to cover up such a nice looking stock. I'd consider just leaving it with irons before spending hundreds on a scope & rings to do that. This is my one really nice looking rifle.

I use the Mueller 4.5-14x40 APT Tactical on my Anschutz 1700 FWT. It was $166.00 at my local dealer. With Midas + this rifle shoots better than my 1907 and with the reticle just move up a couple of dots and right on @1000YDS . For the money it has been excellent.

Someone recommended the Mueller on RFC. I don't get how anyone is still making scopes with mil reticle and MOA turrets. I'll just keep shooting irons before I spend money on something that poorly designed. Just against my morals...can't do it.

My Annie 1700FWT with Leupold 3-9EFR in modified Kelbly dovetail rings, Mueller 4.5-14 APT in same type rings and DI Products 20 MOA rail to use any Weaver or picatinny rings.

You bought an Anschutz 54 and you wan to put a sub $250 scope on it?

Thats like buying a Lambo, and putting 90 octane gas in it!

A fine rifle like that deserves proper optics.. A good rule of thumb it to spend as much in the optics, as you would on the rifle.

I know plenty about scopes. My Tikka CTR has a nice scope on it because I shoot it frequently. I hardly ever shoot this Annie and it makes no sense to spend a bunch of money on a scope for a rifle that I'll hardly shoot.

Starting to lean towards just leaving it with irons. Love the look and feel of it that way. It's a sporter, not a benchrest gun.

And if my Lambo would run fine on 90 octane and I was only going to drive it once a year and that 90 octane saved me $1000 over the other stuff that also ran fine, that's what I'd put in there too.
