The cooler/dry weather means it's time open up the cookie jar and do a good inspection and cleaning of the tools...as my uncle would say. I picked up some bore stores for everything to help prevent dings and mishaps moving things around in the safe but want to add a little more protection if possible for the firearms that don't see much use if any.
Anyone have experience with a good spray or something that can be applied to the metal on the outside that will help prevent any corrosion? Something that won't wreck the finish on wood stocks. Much of what this will go on is for items that don't get pulled out at all and instead live out the rest of their lives in the dark corners of the safe so I want to make sure they aren't going to get pitted up or damaged for the next year. I can put some general gun lube on the outside but it will tend to rub off on the bore stores I'm sure.
Safe has two golden rods in it, but I'm generally against adding desiccant as I don't want to get it too dry and end up damaging the leather goods. It stays between 50%-60% humidity according to a humidor gauge I leave in the safe.
