Another Ky newbie

Well, as stated im new to long range shooting, already made my first mistake from what ive been reading, i bought a savage 110 in 6.5 creedmoor. I know, rem 700 shoulda been my buy, but my dad favors savage so thats what i bought! I served as a communications guy in a artillery battery in the USMC. Any help locating a range over 75 yards near louisville would be helpful, also could use advise on a decent scope for $1,000 or less. well any advice from seasoned shooters will always be welcomed, thanks for yalls time.

Welcome. I live in kentucky. Unfortunately, Ky has nothing for LR. Tennessee and Indiana offer good ranges for learning and competition. Enter competitions and learn. Most shooters are eager to help others learn. CIHPRS in Indiana just started offering a class for those new to LR comps. See below

The outdoor range is located at: 17908 State Road 60 Borden, IN 47106 United States. This is a view from the 300 yard line during a CMP Vintage Sniper match. There is a creek to cross. It is usually very shallow, in the neighborhood of 4-6 inches deep, but it

as far as a good scope under $1000, a Vortex viper is a good candidate.

right on, i actually live in southern indiana, that range in borden is no more than 15 miles from home, hopefully i can get some home time and get up there, thanks for your help

wow, i f'd up, its at atterbury, no clue why i thought i saw borden, atterbury is about 100 miles, but ill try to get there

The second club I listed (Southern Indiana Rifle and Pistol Club) is in Borden.

just had a friend give me a osprey int 3-30x56 ffp elite scope, anyone have any expieriance with them? are they worth a damn?

vortex are decent for what they are, to say good all depends on model and whatnot, but a free $999.00 osprey, if they are atleast dependable, that will hold me over while i save for a NICE scope,

and i was wrong, its a 4-40x56, the 3-30 has 1/4 moa adjustment, the one he gave me has 1/8 moa adjustment, so, just to be clear and honost
