This is a pretty common question, so I'm sorry about that.
I'm in the market to buy what I would consider a really expensive scope. I've got a 243 Deviant/AX that's looking for a match so I can start practicing my precision shooting. If I like the scope well enough I may switch it out on my hunting rig and not worry about the added weight, and of course work on saving for another. I've not quite saved up for a new scope priced at $2K, but am about right there for a nice used scope. I don't want larger than a 50mm objective, I would like the glass to be descent and have reliable tracking/zero stop.
The two scopes that quickly come to mind are the Vortex Razor and Nightforce NXS. I've tried doing some searching/reading on here comparing the two. It seems as if most give the glass, illumination, and the fact that it is FFP to the Razor. I've never really been sold on the glass with the Vortex scopes I've owned in the past, the nicest model being a Viper PST. Maybe it's because my eyes are use to the other optics I use. Obviously the Razor is their upper end compared to the Viper, but the fact I haven't been impressed with what I've had has me worried. Especially if most give the Razor the glass edge over the NXS.
I know first question is whether I want FFP or not. That I'm not a 100% sure on I guess, but it is one reason I am considering the Razor over the NXS.
My questions are these. Is the Razor quite a bit bulkier? Knowing I may switch it to a hunting rifle has me asking this. Which ZS and turrets does one prefer?
Help sway me to one over the other, or maybe even something else.
Thanks
