ok so iam almost done with my f-tr rifle and now iam spending hours every night looking for a scope i will be happy with. not alot of places near by to look at high end scopes, so iam nervous when i order one i will hate the retical. my budget is about $1200 so i have kinda decided on the sightron 8x32x56 mil/mil but i may go with a SWFA SS 5-20x50 Non-Illuminated used. my question is will the SWFA rectical be to thick at 1000yds on 20x? or even the sightron? any help would be awsome as this is stressing me out being such a big purchase for myself. thanks!

Re: Another scope question

Scwoody, first of all where do you live, go to a local match and ask some shooters to look through their scopes. Also at 1200 bucks I would leaning towards aNF, that's saying you have the 2 lbs to spare, if this a dedicated f/tr rifle, I would leaning towards the higher magnification offered by the Sightron and NF.

Re: Another scope question

I have the sightron sIII 8-32x56 in mil dot, I really like it, incredible scope for clarity, brightness and color rendition.

Dedicated fclass gun, the fine crosshair may be best, but all in all, I think the SIII is your best option. However, If you stumble into a Nightforce benchrest in your budget, look at the 12-42 power.

I don't find my reticle too thick, but it never hurts to have a finer more pinpoint setup, mildot was my choice because I also hunt with mine.
