Another Walmart experience

To be fair, this isn't Walmarts fault, it was just an experience I had in line yesterday while buying dog food. Yes, I shop at Walmart - like it or not...

Two young men were in line in front of me. Each looked to be early 20's or maybe even late teens. One a white male, gangster wanna-be clothing, hat on sideways with the flat brim. The other a black male, hair dyed blonde, except for the bottom edge of it - all around his head was red.

They had a 12 pack of Mtn. Dew, and a frozen chocolate pie.

The cashier asks "Credit or Debit?"

The white male swipes his card, it doesn't work. The cashier asks again if it's credit or debit, he informs her "No, it's a gubermint card. Gotta take wut they give you fo free, you know wut I'm sayin? They charge you all dem taxes, so we might as well get as much as we can, you know?"

The cashier takes the card and does whatever it is she has to for it to work. The white guy continues to prattle on about the government and getting whatever they can for free. Blah, blah, blah, ad nauseam.

All I could do was shake my head... I work plenty of hours every week, and even when I'm at home, I'm never really away from work. Glad I can help support these bums... Although, it would be nice if they contributed something to society. Anything, anything at all. Even if it was picking up trash on the side of the road.

I think the money getting dumped into losers like this is actually a good thing, especially the ones like this that are verbose about it. One they help generate negative feelings towards entitlement programs and two, the quicker people get disgusted at the waste, the quicker we'll see a change towards eliminating entitlements.

Sorry Shankster but I think mandatory military would actually degrade it, one thing that makes our military great is that by volunteering you want to be a member opposed if your forced to do it, it would be like the model of public education.... There is a handful that have to ruin it for the rest.

As for the OP I have little brother who is working hard at Papa Murphy's making pizzas. When I call back home and talk to him he tells me about how upset he gets that people can use food stamps to purchase take home pizza. I couldn't agree with him more.... Mountain dew and chocolate pie? That is rediculous to know that we all just paid for this low lifes junk food!

Another big scam I see at Wal-Mart from time to time is a two part 'Knock Off'. Although, it is actually shop lifting, and a lot worse than the food stamp junkies.

First: You always see the able bodied fat women jump in the motorized carts when they come in the door. They almost sprint from their car to the door to ensure that they get one for their Wal-Mart shopping experience.

Then: I caught a 500+ lb. lady with a big dress on at the 'U-Scan' isle the other day. I watched her as she rang up her items in the motorized cart basket, and ALMOST checked out before I said,"MAAM, you forgot to scan the beer there on the cart!" She proceeded to thank me for noticing, and go on about how she would have 'been a criminal if it wasn't for me'.

Truth be told she probably intended to pay for her $12 in small items and steal the 24 pack of beer. Not that day! The reason Wal-Mart is so bad is because they almost turn their head when people steal from them! It's a criminal's haven, in my opinion. You would not believe how many times I've witnessed people checking out in the U-Scan isles with a cart full of groceries. I don't mind waiting, so I sit there and watch ,more times than not, as these people hand off a large item to their shopping buddy while they scan a small item. Of course, they never set their items on the scanner, because they don't want the computer to figure out how much weight they actually have in their cart.

Then everyone who actually enlisted will be issued one of these Mando artards to do something like swab decks, and other BS the real armed forces do not need to be doing. The Navy can use a bunch of idiots to scrape barnacle and paint. The rest of the branches can use them as they see fit. I know when I was in the Marines there were lots of crap I did not like doing that anyone can do.

I DON'T shop at walmart if I can avoid it, but last night my wife needed something late so I had to go. In line in front of me and in the line to my right, there were 2 families. One black guy with a white wife and mixed kid. Seemed like decent people. The family to my right were a white couple with 6 kids. Sketchy lot, they were.

Between the 2 of them, their totals for food and shit came to $700ish. They both swiped EBT cards..... then complained when their owed total came to $9! FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About a year ago, I'm in HEB (it's a Texas thing), shopping and shit with the fam. We go to pay for our groceries, and theres this chick in front of us. She's buying dog food, and attempts to use her "Lonestar" car for it. Thankfully, the cashier is like, "Sorry, dog food isn't part of the Food Stamp Act of 1977 allotment". I'm blown away by her knowledge, and grinning from ear to ear.

So this twat holds up the whole line, says, "I'll be right back". Along she scurries for about what seemed an hour, and comes back with a 2 foot long tube of hamburger. She throws it down on the counter and says, "How's that? Now my dog will eat better than you tnite." Again, I was blown away.

I understand, their are truly needy people out there, that honestly DO need assistance. I am willing for a SMALL AMOUNT of the money I make to help them eat. But it should be from a govt warehouse, powdered milk, eggs, flour, etc. Shit they have to make, and not fast food from wal mart or any convenient store.

I love this country, I just hate the people that run it.

WIC (I believe that is the name of the program) has an accepted list of foods. The program is set up for kids. I am not sure what it takes to make the list but Mountain Dew and chocolate pie ain't on it. People living on taxpayers money should not be eating better than taxpayers.

People who get something for nothing, never learn the value of that something. Ever. Give someone a home, sure they will appreciate it at the time, but they will not take care of it. Allow them to buy whatever food they want and they get junk and like one of the other guys said, they then turn into a medical issue later on in life and now put that burden on society.

Why can't we fix this? The people controlling the votes must enjoy having sheeple to take care of. What else could it be? Are they trying to see who can have the biggest herd of sheeple? You know, like cattle ranchers, trying to have a large herd to make a bigger profit. Except sheeple don't provide anything to society except burden... right?

But I know about this, my daughters mother collects 3 social security checks and $600 A MONTH from me for child support - brings home more than I do....goes to school, buys shitty food for my daughter but buys herself nice camera equipment, computers etc.....

But today I caught a link that was pretty surprising to me.

Corporations like GE and Verizon paying no taxes.

With this kind of shit going on (if this is true) I don't blame people for being pissed off. Why should you or I pay thousands of dollars of our small income, if GE makes a profit and reports negative taxes?

Why should a person pay more tax on one months phone bill with Verizon, than Verizon pays in the whole year?

Then we have people running who think the solution is a 20% flat tax... well why should a person making 20K a year pay the same tax as a wall street type making a couple million a year?

I think 15% flat tax under 200K and 20% over wouldn't be too far off, but 20% flat for all incomes doesn't seem like a solution. A guy making millions might be able to afford the extra 5%, but some people at 20 really need that extra thousand dollars to fix their car, or get a filling at the dentist. I'm sure that family at 75K could use the extra $3750.

Politicians need to start living with the people and really honestly feeling and understanding their pain and maybe they wouldn't think an over-simplistic 20% flat for everyone is the solution to GE paying zero while a people near the poverty line get automatic deductions from income.

A real simple note to get you thinking.... How many people do GE or Verizon employ? How many less would they be able to employ if they had to pay a large tax bill every year? Then, by extension, less people paying income tax, sales tax etc. and instead being on the government titty TAKING tax money... I don't think this should be exclusive to large corporations, mind you. You, me and every other small business owner should be offered the same "deal".

I have no opinion on the entire matter yet as I've been reading and learning about this for years now and still find myself still without a clear picture... However, that first paragraph ought to get you thinking.

I hear your argument. And then I see people like Warren Buffet paying 17% and asking for higher tax rates, and remember growing up with my parents paying sometimes in the high 20's.

Good on Warren Buffet for asking to do more, but why was this situation where my parents paid for years a higher percentage than him ever let to exist?

My parents problems generally revolved around money- a tree needs to be cut, a fence mended, a house painted, a car repaired, a roof restored, etc.

They eventually got divorced. This type of situation is a reality for most Americans, But some people never know these problems.

You know- my dad has made probably millions of dollars in his 66 years alive- working probably 80 hours a week, and today he's a contractor working in Iraq, and everything he owns fits in a couple boxes in the back of his car. Too many years just making ends meet.

The investments of a lot of people his age went to total shit when the bottom fell out of stocks, and now they are all working to try to put together some kind of retirement because the dirty business of the banking industry has really stolen the fruits of their labor.

I don't really get deep into economics but I sometimes wonder why the banks got bailed out, and in the end the tax payers got the fallout- it was their investments that tanked. The only relief was a government action that further depreciated the value of whatever they owned.

They don't organize and complain, but they have every right to IMO.

If you really want a clear picture of whats going on all you have to do is look to who has the power to eliminate tax liabilities, then figure out who appointed them. You will find that all these large corporations that have no tax bill are huge political donors to the appointer. You will also find that there are no tax releases for companies that fail to support the appointer. Just the way it works in Chicago.

Warren Buffet is a disingenuous media whore. When he talks out his ass about paying less in taxes than his secretary, he's speaking of capital gains tax. Everyone is afforded that same rate. If he takes income, he pays income tax based on that amount. Just like everyone else.

And besides, I guarantee his capital gains tax amounts to a fair bit more money than his secretary's income tax. And FURTHERMORE, he can always write a check to .gov. If he feels compelled to pay more by way of guilt or good will, go for it. Don't legislate me into that bullshit. The art of convincing or cajoling people into things has been lost to legislation and threat of imprisonment.

It is no shame to be wealthy. It is no shame to work hard to get more than the next guy. That is America. You have the RIGHT to pursue happiness. That's it. This entitlement culture is out of fucking hand.

BTW: None of this is meant to be construed as me agree with the bailouts. Those companies, (and I'm fully aware of the fallout to Americans) should have been allowed to fail. Period.

I'm aware however, my comment was directed at the practice of large companies not paying taxes. Firstly, that's not an accurate statement from my research as these companies pay millions in taxes every year. And second, I'm not sure I have a huge problem with it, if they didn't, to be honest. Taxes are nothing more than a burden. I'm finding myself in the Ron Paul camp with regards to taxes.

Coming from someone who could give 99/100 of their worth away and still have more than 99/100 of American taxpayers, how absurd to suggest income redistribution via taxation. Put me in charge . . .

Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats and piercings, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks?
You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your "home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good..”

Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules.. Before you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem," consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

AND While you are on Gov’t subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes that is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov’t welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.
Now, if you have the guts - PASS IT ON...

I think 15% flat tax under 200K and 20% over wouldn't be too far off, but 20% flat for all incomes doesn't seem like a solution. A guy making millions might be able to afford the extra 5%, but some people at 20 really need that extra thousand dollars to fix their car, or get a filling at the dentist. I'm sure that family at 75K could use the extra $3750.

Politicians need to start living with the people and really honestly feeling and understanding their pain and maybe they wouldn't think an over-simplistic 20% flat for everyone is the solution to GE paying zero while a people near the poverty line get automatic deductions from income.

I love the TAX debate. Yes I think Flat tax is the best for all. Why should Any one person pay more for his money than any other person. Dont raise taxes cause of income. I say get rid of exemptions ALL OF THEM for EVERYONE, INCLUDING BIG BIZ.
Reason if I make $100 dollars a year on a 17% tax then I pay 17 dollars.
if I make 30,000 a year Pay more in taxes like 5,100 dollars.
If I make 90K a year I pay 15,300 in taxes, but the same % as everyone else.

in short, Get rid of "tax brackets" and tax everyone a flat percentage. FYI include food stamps ( not WIC)as income.

Okay, so Corporation "A" didn't pay much in taxes, via under the table deals or incentives to bring them to a certain area. Remember though, this is the corporation itself, not the hundreds/thousands it employs. All those fuckers are paying taxes, so in essence, the corporation is paying plenty of tax and generating plenty of income, revenue, and tax base far moreso than its corporate tax rate.

Last time I was in Austin (it's surrounded by Texas!) the HEB had a "build your own 6-pack" display. Something like 40-50 microbrews and you could mix and match. Awesome.
