Hunting & Fishing Another yote...and new area for me

So a buddy of mine called up and told me he had a HUGE ranch area that he had gotten access to hunt hogs on...and was told he could shoot yotes as well. So...being the good friend he is...and seeing how he is not a yote hunter...he called me. Woo Hoo!!

Anyways...we get a really late start....but get out there about 1:00pm. Set up on a point with little valleys and creeks on either side. About 8 min. into the stand this male comes through the creek to our right and up the hill towards our stand. I bark...he stops...I send a 75gr hollow point where he lives. Dog down!

We made two more stands with no luck but it is a area I plan on going back to early in the morning and try some more areas.

I'm assuming thats california... Where abouts, I have family that lives in San Jose and the land over there was beautiful, but not like that. Those are some awesome picks, I'm jealous.

I am in No. Calif. That area is about a hour outside of town. It is beautiful area this time of year...in another few months it will be dry and not very nice looking.

Yeah...I plan on spending mucho time in that area now that I have access to it.
I will be taking a long(er) range rifle as well. Most of the areas we looked at and set up at had easy shots of 500-700 yards.

The little Tikka is a great yote buster. With its 16 1/2" barrel (18" OAL w/brake) and cheap plastic stock....it is a joy to carry while hiking those hills.
My pack with the FoxPro PB, extra ammo, water, snacks,and misc. gear weighs about 25+ lbs...I consider myself to be in pretty good shape. I work out 4-5 days a weeks,etc. But at 40 years old it seems I can feel every extra pound I carry. Last thing I want to do is lug around a 15 lb. rifle.
