Anschutz 64 MP R optics?

I've got one on the way to me and wanted to see what those of you who have one topped it with. I plan on shooting off of bipods but will also be shooting in other positions from time to time. I will be shooting from 25 yds to hopefully 300.

I have an extra Vari-X III 8.5-25x50 LR that will probably get mounted, but I'm not certain.

One last question, are you using a 20 MOA rail to get out to 300+?

I'll be interested to hear what folks say... my MPR will be here tomorrow and I too have been struggling with an optic choice. Seeking a compromise it seems... I'd like what's acceptable for all ranges like you. You'll see my recet threads here too...

DFOOSKING, that is one of my concerns is that it's gonna be an overweight pig, but then again, it may work perfect. I'm looking forward to next weekend to see how it shoots.

The Leupold has a thin duplex. I kept thinking I would send it in to be switched out, but if it works on the Annie, I'll probably leave it as it is. I actually forgot I had it until I went looking for some SK Match that I had stashed away...

This is a good question... Armorp8chikn saw my little 149 OSPREY scope that I like to shoot on my rigs in the TSC. I displaced a Bushnell Tactical and am going with the OSPREY ... Why? It's proven. It has always tracked, and I like the thinner reticle lines.

Also, it has tick marks that match up well with different ranges. But... I bet that one OSPREY was the diamond in the rough.... so it is on my MPR.

I can see the "distortion" off of the bullet through the OSPREY but not through the Bushnell... Imagine that.

I say, goes with what is proven... Leupolds are certainly proven.

I've seen the guys on RFC brag about the Muellers, but I don't have any experience with them, so Leupold it is.

What have you had the best success with, Wolf, SK, Eley...

I have a pretty good selection to try, but am curious to hear if there is a constact theme of one brand that outshines the others.

I mounted a Horus Predator 8-26x50 FFP IPHY on my MPR. I like to use holdovers more than most guys. It's got 60 SMOA total adjustment and almost 80 IPHY on the reticle. Last year I hit a PD at 333Y using line 68 with my 50Y zero.

I current run a mueller 8x32x44 target scope on my Sako P94s and for the money I am extremely happy. I shoot with Nightforce on most of my rifles so I was hesitant to try what I considered a low end scope. My opinion has now changed on Mueller and would tell you to give it a try you will be pleasantly surprised.

Leupies like that are some of the lightest scopes on the market compared to the "real" tactical scopes.

ELEY tenex was ridiculously accurate in mine, Wolf MT was almost as good, just a flyer here and there ruining my 5 shot groups with 4 out of the 5 touching a good amount of the time at 50Y.

I dont have a MPR but a 1416DHB and It wears a Bushnell Elite 5-15x40 Tactical w/ mil dots. Ive used it to 200yds once so far a while back. Scope wasent holding me back on steel at that range or bullseye targets at 25-100yds. I was running SK Magazine but think I'll be swapping to eley club now after shooting it last week. I also have some eley team to try aswell.

I have swiped the optics rig off my 50bmg to play with my new Annie until my new scope came in. She is wearing a 8-32x56 NXS nightforce with 150 MOA adjustable rings. That gives me enough elevation to shoot match ammo at 1085 FPS out to about 650 yds without adjusting any elevation in the scope. I have only shot it at 500 yds one time just goofing, haven't put paper out that far to tell about any grouping. When I get back home I will be putting my new scope on her, I got a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50 with the 1000 rapid Z reticle.

I use mine all the time.....Love it, got a DIP rail and have had several different scopes on it. For tactical the Falcon Menace 5x25 FFP worked great. SWFA had sightrons on sale with a big rebate. I picked up a 24x target dot for around $230. I only shoot mine at 100. It loves wolf target, if the wind is calm I can get half MOA all day at 100. 50 yards was boring as they are all one ragged group. I do have a stock pack on mine for better alignment and check weld. The rail is nice BUT I HAD TO FIT IT. Spoke with the owner a couple times nice guy but it didn't fit. He says they have tweaked and changed design a couple time so you may have to dremel a little bit.

I shoot of a harris bipod with mine. I cant bring myself to mount a rail on my wood stock and run one of my Atlas bipods even though I really want to.

march 3x-24 MIL/MIL on a 25MOA mount with harris bipod. i shoot 300yds with it a good bit (steel) as i rest my centerfires.

my biggest problem is finding decent ammo. 22lr is hard to find.

Anschutz 64 MPR I am running a Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25x50 mil dot reticle with DIP 20 MOA rail. Gets to right at 360 yards on MOA come-ups. Can get further on mil dots, but have not had an opportunity to do that yet. Stock pack will be needed for big scope to get cheek weld correct.

Anschutz 54.18 also running Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25x50 TMR reticle , McMillan Master Sillouette stock. Great cheek weld with this high comb.

Like them both, but prefer the 64 MPR, and it is my go to rimfire. Get ready for a minute trigger pull, 8oz on the second stage, and it is extremely consistent. Take some getting used to coming off a Timney centefire single stage 2 lb trigger. Once you get used to it you will love it.

6-20 Leupold VX3 W/ TMR ret. It focuses in close so I can take care of the $&)$&)#! armadillos in my yard. With the DIP 20moa rail I have gone to around 300m with Wolf MT.

Thanks DFOO, I had to send the thing back to Leupy for a canted ret anyway when it had the duplex. The TMR is really nice in it, I do wish it was a Mil value scope though. I think the perfect scope for .22 is the S&B 5-25 w/ H2CMR. I also wish the base extended all the way to the rear of the receiver. I think Murphy Precision makes an Annie base, I may look into that.

Here's my MPR and 10-22RR, both with the Horus 8-26 Predators.

Aqua, it's an MPR stock that I worked on. I bedded it with a ton of Devcon, did the texturing in Devcon, put a spare Accuracy International spacer system on it, and built up the grip with Bondo Hair fiberglass. The adjustable cheekpiece hardware is an Annie part worked in with a jigsaw, router, and a drill press. It's finished in Duracoat.

Thanks for the input. I'm waiting on my DIP rail to get here. I came across some Eley EPS that I'm going to test a bit as well. I found some Tenex, but the local shop that has it wants $28 plus tax for it. I tried to remind them that Google can be very helpful, but it doesn't seem to matter.

I'm going to pull a stock pack off of my 5R Milspec so I should be good to go with the cheek weld.

BTW, those are some nice setups. I had someone giving me grief for putting a Leupold on a .22. Afterall he said, it's just a .22, any Bushnell or Tasco will work. I told him he was right and just laughed. I'm pretty sure that several of the rifle / scope combos on this thread alone cost more than his car!

The range is on the moors, the trees grow leaning to one side So wind is bloody interesting at 200 and getting out of hand at 300.

I've a new bit of land in my village out to 350ish that is more sheltered so hoping to push the MPR a bit futher, have a tuner on the way also to play with.

I got you now. I didn't realize your location when I first posted. It is not an MPR, but I had an Annie 64 that I loved shooting to 300 at our range. Fun stuff if you can get some shelter from the wind - hope you get a chance to give it a go. Building up a 54 based rifle now - looking forward to continuing the quest with it.

My 25 MOA DIP rail finally came in. I'd planned on using some Badger rings that I have but I've seen a lot of people on RFC using the Burris Posi-ligns with 20MOA inserts. I'm not sure that they are what I'm looking for. Nearly all of my shooting will be 200 yds and under. I'm not really sure that I need the inserts. For shooting past 200, I may just use a little good old fashioned holdover.

From the pics, it looks like there is a lot of variety in the rings you're using. What would you recommend?

I have a Leupold Mark4, 4.5-14 x40mm LR/T, 30mm tube, Mil Dot reticle, on my 64 MPR. Great little scope, very clear; cannot remember the rings brand or size but i could look if necessary.
I do have a 25 MOA custom rail and a Harris bipod, as I do most, but not all, of my shooting from bipod and rear bag.
MPR is a very accurate rifle, trigger is at .6 oz, aint no war or hunting rifle with such a light trigger but it is a tack driver.
Only shot it up to 200 meters for now but one of my shooting Buds just got the exact same set up and once he will be all dialed up at 50 yards, we will push the envelope and pull out some dope further out.

One last question...so my DIP rail came in and I decided to take a little time yesterday to get everything mounted and ready to shoot this weekend. I ran into a small problem...the rail doesn't slide onto the dovetail. The first 1/4" is tight and then it won't go further. I spent some time on the phone with DIP and they are trying to figure it out. Although I can't see any burrs that would cause a problem, my guess is that there is one somewhere. Either way, it looks like another weekend that I won't be getting to shoot this thing.

Since most of you are using this rail, how tight was yours to slide on?
