Will a chassis replace stocks as a go to hunting rifle setup? Probably not but I think we will see an increase in hunting rifles with chassis systems. Especially if the firearms industry keeps coming out with chassis in the $400 range.
The scales or panels are G10 from the description and an email from the company. Below is a quote from them pertaining to a few questions I had.
“The fore end and buttstock are detachable, allowing us to expand options/features in the future. We are always happy to take on custom work to meet our customers needs. That being said, I am not very familiar with AI actions but we would love to explore the possibility of building an AMP Stock for one. Length of pull is 13 inches to as long as you need. We utilize a spacer system of three different thicknesses that nest together in any combination/amount to achieve perfect L.O.P. (see attached picture) The buttpad is also adjustable vertically. Weight for a short action 700 with G10 furniture is 3.75 lbs. We offer carbon fiber furniture, and titanium hardware to bring that down to 3 lbs. if required.”
Seems coolish and their response to my initial email was very fast. Oh I asked about an AI inlet, they do not sound opposed to the idea.
So @lowlight , whats your favorite colour this week ? LOL
Kidding.
I haven't shopped around for chassis in the last few years and I'm looking for opinions on chassis for me to consider researching further--
Background, I got my wife a Tikka T3 CTR (260Rem) and put my old SHV 4-14 F1 on it.
Primary use- Whitetail Deer Hunting, but there maybe a very very slim chance she'll try her hand at the odd PRS style match or two.
I'm a fan of chassis, I like the adjustability, she's about 5' 4", and I want to get away from the Tikka Mags.
All my chassis are XLR's of one flavour or another., so one consideration is the Mg. Element Chassis. I want to keep the rifle on the lighter side, any other recommendations I should look into ?
