Has anyone shot the new federal gold medal match factory ammo in 6mm Creedmoor? I tried searching the inter webs but haven’t seen any real world data on it. Just curious if anyone has tried it?

Horandy 108gr did a lot better than the FGMM. Had about .60 MOA with 10rd group of hornandy. The FGMM 10rd group was about .8 moa for me. Guy at the range asked me what i was shooting amd he couldnt get them to group. He gave me the 10rds in the box to shoot.

And these results will probably be just the opposite in another rifle.

Went through a box and found them adequate. But I prefer to handload so iay be biased. Definitely useable in a pinch though. Need to run them over a Chrono to see how consistent

Exactly. I was just stating what i saw in my rifle. Its an RPR with a 7.7 twist and 24" barrel.
I think Ruger used Hornady Match dimensions for their Rpr. On mine the olive just kisses the lands. And it's hard to handload much more accurate ammo. Nothing wrong with sub moa 10 shot groups.

Well here you go.

Shot 20 rounds, the first 3 went through almost the same hole then opened up to 3/4moa or so with shots 4-5. Shots 6-10 were 1MOA or maybe a little more and I discovered my can was loose.

Shot 5 more rounds after cooling and tightening the can which produced a 5 shot group about .15mil center to center so sub 1/2 minute. Then 5 more with the magnetospeed attached produced the string pictured and accuracy was closer to .2mil center to center so right under 3/4 minute.

Rifle is a Q “The Fix” with 26” Proof Research CF barrel and TBAC Ultra 7CB. It’s averaging 80fps faster than box velocity in 40 degree weather and an almost new barrel (60 rounds on it). I have a feeling once the barrel speeds up a little and temps warm up since they rarely use temp stable powders that this stuff might be over 3200fps in my barrel. Not a concern for me since this one won’t be used for matches, but something to consider.

All in all I’m satisfied with it for factory match ammo in this rifle. I bought a case of 200 so when I get closer to the end of it we’ll see what the velocity is looking like.

.109 freebore in that chamber or .183?

That’s smoking, I haven’t seen anyone getting those kinds of velocities from the factory load in that barrel length. Nice!!!!

I’d be curious of the freebore as well. It could be hotter due to more pressure?

I can measure next week once my modified case gets here. 105 Hybrids are really jump tolerant though, my experience is that .020”-.080” they shoot the same. In all my 6mm barrels I’ve loaded them in I start them .020” off and adjust them out every 300-500 rounds.

I’m curious what this factory ammo is jumping though.

Glad to see some more viable options are coming out. I was going to do the ELM reamer for a PVA barrel but I may need to reconsider.

I shot most of a box yesterday. The first five shots at 100 yards were .1 mil high and .1 mil left of my zero for the 115 DTAC. That five shot group including the cold bore measured .29" and looked like they were going through the same hole. I shot one three shot group at 310 yards that measured .89" and then seven more rounds just plinking. I accidentally turned the Labradar off at one point so I only got 10 rounds chronoed. Those ten averaged 3128 with a high of 3150 and a low of 3102. (this was the cold bore shot) SD was 16. I'm not sure what to think. Accuracy is outstanding, but the SD number has me concerned. If I was in a pinch, I'd probably still shoot these in a match. This was shot in an AT with a 28" 7.5 twist heavy palma Bartlein.

Tested a box of FGMM

3297 fps average on 20 shots.
SD: 23.6
ES: 68

They are over the speed node of the 105's so that why they shoot like crap for me. Probably due to my freebore. That from a 0.150 FB

In comparison the factory 108 eld-m are leaving a 2997 fps. "Note: I need to seat them to fit my freebore"
ES: 11.4
SD: 4.2

Why does everyone pay so much attention to standard deviation when it's the extreme spread what will really show you what happens downrange?

I think because most lots of factory match ammo, if you chrono you will find sometimes a round or two with too much powder or inconsistent components that increase/decrease velocity substantially. This is going to be a given with most mass produced products, not just ammunition.

Standard deviation is more important because it shows the consistency from round to round, which is more important to me. As long as it stays consistent then my dope will be correct. I may have a hot round every once and awhile but if its high, I just re-engage my target because I know my SD is low and the likelihood I get another hot or slow round after that one is unlikely.

I tried a couple three shot groups with some different factory ammo during the final break in steps. The FGMM with 105 Hybrid gave me a 0.089" and then a 0.308" group. I wasn't measuring velocity. This was through a Bartlein 5R barrel and SAAMI reamer. ( 0.183 freebore )
