It's less than 6 hours from the DC area (I live in Loudon County, but used to live in NY near Long Gun Training). They have a class in August with open slots.

I have taken several classes with the LGT team, and I recommend them to everyone that asks about training. The owner and instructor is a former marine marksmen instructor, and operates on a great facility. They team up with a beautiful Bed & Breakfast for unbelievable hospitality and classroom instruction. Cant say enough about the LGT crew.

I just took my first class with Ghost firearms training in Lewistown Pa at a 1000 yard range it was fucking awesome. Jackson and Paul had us all hitting 1000 within a few hours and most have never shot that far. That should be a 5 hour drive from DC

I second this, I’ve shot with them twice and both times have been fantastic. In addition to the standard dope gathering they have different little competitions that are challenging yet fun.

Make the drive any day to take a class with them.

From the course content to the facility, it is TOP notch. Can’t say enough good about them and recommend it to anyone who asks. Any questions about it feel free to ask me. I really can’t say enough good about them and will be back in the future
