Hey guys, just bought a 6mm Dasher and it is coming with some fireformed Lapua 6BR brass, but also has some Norma factory brass (looks like they made it exclusively for a few people).

I've heard mixed reviews on the neck diameter of the Norma brass and whether it needs to be neck turned if you don't have a specific no neck turn chamber. Otherwise I have heard mention of using a bushing type seater to put a little extra tension on that neck.

Thoughts? Reviews? Anyone else using this?

I have never had to neck turn brass before so this concept is a little new to me.

The Norma brass was sold by Bullets.com through a special run by Norma. Several of the guys I shoot F Class with tried it and eventually went back to the Lapua 6mm BR brass due to dimensional differences in which the neck was longer and required a different reamer as well as shorter brass life. Be sure to check the length of the necks. Not sure about the neck wall thickness on the Dasher brass but the special run of 284 Win brass sold by Bullets.com had very thick necks and a significant amount of brass need to be removed by turning. Bought 500 pieces of the 284 brass but sold before trying it in lieu of using Lapua brass.

Good to know. I've got a trimmer and a neck turner coming for it but the less brass work I have to do the better.

If you use it in a Lapua chamber trimming is mandatory to function. I've got some going in a chamber with a .272" neck, and it is behaving alright without any neck turning, which I'd avoid at all costs.

If you have brass from the first batch you MAY need a special shellholder, which I believe Bullets.com sells.

Putting extra tension on the neck will not increase the neck clearance of loaded rounds, just the neck tension. The clearance will remain the same.

Good to know. I got some loaded rounds with the rifle so I will do some measuring on that and compare it to the Norma stuff.
